My grandpa played a huge role in the battle of Dunkirk, was very excited to see it but my uncle saw it and had major issues with it so never saw it.

Saw You Were Never Really Here. Love Phoenix but the film was a bit too disjointed for my liking.

What issues did your uncle have with it? I haven’t seen it, but your comment is interesting.

1000 faces of Dunjia. Great GCI, no plot. I got really drunk so I don't remember how it ended.

I watched Godzilla '98 for the first time, and I seriously think it's the worst big-budget blockbuster I've ever seen. It's like Emmerich took the worst things about Independence Day, put them in a blender with much, much worse CGI, then sprinkled on an obnoxious cast, bad dialogue, and a lot of laziness. What a piece of ****.

New movies I watched on the way home :

- Greatest Showman - Exceptionally good. I really like a good musical, and this was a great movie
- Pitch Perfect 3 - Funny, much better than the second one
- Ghost in the Machine - not sure why I never saw this. It was okay. I felt like I was watching a Blade Runner mock up. ScaJo is still awesome, but the movie is just there

I watched a few others and dozed in and out. 15 hours is just a long time to kill.

I texted my cousin about this and asked him what his dads complaints were as I can't remember (they saw it together when he was visiting last summer). My cousin texted me back that the narrative was just way too complicated since my uncle is quite old.

If I recall I think he was disapointed that there were no mention of the suicide missions my grandpa participated in that held the germans back enough to allow the evacuation.

Watched The Hitman's Bodyguard. Typical Samuel L. Jackson action flick. Fun, albeit, largely unbelievable. But at the end of the day, if it was fun, that's all that matters. IMDb's 6.9 is about right. Maybe a little higher than I'd have given it. But a solid 6 none the less.

I mean...I feel like Godzilla is down three touchdowns at kickoff because it's spending a couple hours with The Rock or or with Matthew Broderick. I have to believe even dudes would understand.

Watched Annihilation last night on demand. Natalie Portman and the guy who played “Poe” in Star Wars. I’m still not sure what I saw, but I was entertained.

I saw Deadpool 2. It's weird because I was entertained and laughed quite a bit, but I didn't really like it. I just kept feeling like it was trying too hard with the overall story arc and I found it kind of annoying.

I also saw Upgrade and loved it.

Saw Deadpool 2 last night. They nailed it. The meta humor was perfect and I laughed throughout the movie. I like this one at least as much as I liked the first Deadpool...maybe even a little more.

Watched the Original "The Omen" and "Damien: The Omen 2" yesterday...

The first one is an absolute horror classic, the 2nd I'd give a B+ in the "Seventies Movie Sequel" category...

Wife and I saw "Heriditary" yesterday....I liked it, though some of the crowd DEFINITELY did not..

Saw a review that classified it as a mix between "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Exorcist 3"....that's not too far off...

DEFINITELY has one of the most shocking scenes I've EVER watched in it..the whole theatre gasped...

Wife and I saw TAG last night. It's not the funniest movie in the world but it did its job and had a great premise.

Well, it took 10 years but I finally saw Taken.

I learned that if Liam Neesen says he's going to kill you. He will.

There were 4-5 great 4th wall moments, but on the whole it was so devoted to being clever I never felt like I was watching an actual movie with actual stakes. Even a Farrelly Brothers comedy invests you in whether or not Lloyd ends up with Mary Samsonite.

The most unbelievable aspect of that movie is the idea a 19 year old whatever girl was going to travel around Europe following U2. Nobody currently under 45 has ever given a **** about U2, and the people that did stopped after "POP" came out.

Absolutely loved it. And absolutely understand why people who thought they were going to see "Insidious" were pissed.

My problem with that movie was you could almost hear the producers screaming, "MORE EXPOSITION! THEY WON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON!" juuuuuust off camera.

The meteor scene was such a betrayal of how the story is supposed to challenge the audience that it was basically a deal-breaker right off the bat for me. If you can sit there saying, "Oh, it's all because of..." through all the weirdness, then you're grounded in a way that you're not supposed to be.

Star Wars: Solo
It was fun and entertaining. Plenty good enough for me. Glad I didn't listen to the critics and went to see this on a big screen.

My next theater flick will probably be DP2.

Saw Ocean's 8. It was good, not great. Had two twists, 1 was great and 1 wasn't. I'd recommend it as a rental.

My major problem with it was this though...
Spoiler:
They make this big deal about how this necklace requires a special magnet only the handler has to take it off. Of course they figure it out, and when it goes missing and the fake is swapped out and found. Nobody questions how it fell off the girl's neck. The plot point gets ignored and dropped.

I saw it and all in.... it looks fantastic. I was so pleased with Creed.

They may be able to tie a bow on this nicely.

From the preview it essentially looks like the rematch of the Creed vs. Drago fight except the sons are fighting in this 1. I'm all for that! Rocky 4 is my favorite of the movies so essentially a part 2 to this 1 is dope imo! Loved Creed, thought they did a great job with that movie and MBJ was great in it as the next generation Creed. Look forward to this 1!!
