It's just that the Bucs don't have their 3rd rounder (thanks JPP) so we're limited on draft capital already. So trading up from 38th overall would take atleast our 4th rounder leaving us w/ 2 picks in the first 4 rounds, which is where Licht has been much better finding players than rounds 5-7.

If Licht has a strength as a GM it's been in rounds 1-4 of the draft. There has been some misses like we see with every GM, but he's built a nice young core here with those picks past Bucs GMs often failed to do. So a big part of me wants the Bucs to trade back from 7 if the board and trade offers dictate such a move so that Licht has more picks on day 1-2 to fill out the roster.

The rumor last year was we were all ready to trade back until OJ Howard was sitting there. And of course, in 2016 we traded back a few spots with the Bears. So it's not impossible. Generally when we've traded, we've traded up, not back (Beckwith, Marpet, etc)

Agreed, Licht has shown he'll trade up on day 2 (when it's far less expensive) to get a guy he's targeted (Marpet, Beckwith, the kicker). But sitting at 7 Licht could get a pretty good haul potentially.

Pewter Report keeps reporting that the Bucs won't pass on Nelson if he's there, assuming Chubb isn't.

That would be good news if Pewter Report was a trustworthy source.

I don't see any reason not to trust them when they say they've been told something. It may end up being wrong in the end, but I highly doubt they're just making it up.

YES!

I still think a surprise move will be the Bears trading up for Nelson. And the Raiders for Barkley.

The Bears don't have a third round pick and aren't desperate enough for offensive guard talent that they would mortgage the future by trading up for a guard. Who trades up for a guard in the top ten? The Bears need depth, and Nelson would be nice, but he wouldn't break their offseason if he isn't there at eight overall. Why trade up with limited draft capital when they can get Billy Price or Aaron Hernandez or Isaiah Wynn or a similar talent in the second round?

Allen would be such a Browns pick. And it'd be a great one if they sat him for a year behind Tyrod which I'm sure is "the plan" until of course it's not.

1. Browns-Sam Darnald: Take the guy with the highest ceiling and is more likely to be ready to get you 6 or so wins after he "sits and learns" and you put him in hoping to save your job.
2. Giants-Rosen: A guy who actually does sit for most of his rookie year, until the Giants are actually out of it.
3. NY Jets-Barker Mayfield: The guy they wanted all along and traded up to get.
4. *TRADE* Raiders-Saquon Barkley: You think Gruden thinks he'll be picking this high again with the offense he just inherited? The RB is usually the second or third most targetted player in a Gruden offense and he gets the BPA of the class.
5. Broncos-Josh Allen: They got a good look at him coaching him earlier and he does have a chance to sit behind Keenum for a year. Best case, Keenum Vikes the Broncos into the playoffs, worst case you've groomed a top QB.
6. Colts- Roquan Smith: Surprised? We aren't paying much attention to the LB class but it's stacked. Colts don't just need a pass rusher they need a heart, leader, and captain of that defense. Smith can set the tone. Edmunds also an option.
7. Buccaneers-Bradley Chubbs: Bucs passing on Nelson for Chubbs makes me sick. With that said it's a great addition and more flashy for the fans.
8. Bears- Quinten Nelson: Bears get the BPA in a huge position of need and they have Nelson's former OL coach as well, what a dream.
9. 49ers- Minkah Fitzpatrick: Lynch knows how to get top talent and doesn't let a guy like Fitz get passed him.
10. Browns- Mike McGlinchey: Hey here's a name we stopped talking about. Browns lost Joe Thomas and aren't about the stake their new prized pony back there with no protection. Like Darnold, even Mike can be groomed slightly slowly.

I believe the whole league learned a lesson when the Browns realized that arm strength is very important, especially when your QB is playing in windy conditions more times than not.

So in my opinion, cle, nyg, nyj, den, would be avoiding baker mayfield. And cle might be more interested in darnold and allen. Although rosen's greater awareness might help cle be more comfortable with him and his +average arm strength.
There are people everywhere who want to be the only one to speak. So I just ignore them. Literally.

Personally, I think if Saquon Barkley, Bradley Chubb or Quenton Nelson are not there the Buccaneers might be best served with a trade down and picking up some more picks. I am not sure how I feel about Minkah Fitzpatrick. Some days I really would like to see the Buccaneers select him and on others days that seems like a wasted pick. I see two possibilities given the chatter.

New England trades up to select Baker Mayfield. That would result in the Buccaneers giving up the 7th pick in the draft for picks 23, 31, and 63. here the Buccaneers get two first round picks and a third-round selection.

The other is the Bills trading up. I see them targeting a team higher than the Buccaneers though. If that happens the Buccaneers get picks 12, 65, and 96 in exchange for the 7th pick of the draft. The Buccaneers net a first round and two third-round picks.

Of those two scenarios, I view the New England trade as the better of the two and more likely to happen.

I agree with the preference on reading down in that scenario, but the Bucs would get more from both teams in return for the 7th overall pick. Bills would have to give up both of their 1st rounders, or more of their day 2 picks. For the Pats to move up from 23 it would take 23, 31 + both of their 2nd rounders giving the Bucs 5 picks in the first 63 overall.

If the Bucs do trade down I don't want to go past 12th overall since I think one of three DBs will still be there or a slight chance Barkley or Nelson slides (hey, nobody saw OJ Howard falling to 19 last season so crazier **** has happened).

If New England does this, then they are in full rebuild mode. They have too many needs for a win now team to trade away that many picks.

Minkah Fitzpatrick a wasted pick? Only if you're an idiot and incompetent at your job.

If PR says something is happening you can almost guarantee it isn't. JBF has more/better sources than them at this point. Hell, JabooWins has better sources.

There are a handfull of blue chips available when we draft. Scott is guessing just like anyone else.
