Given a long enough span of time, id say the rind breaks dow to let the water out.

I’m using this one for my weekly bonus puzzler this semester. I start class on most fridays putting a problem like this in the board. First 5 people to get it right get bonus points on the next exam

lets say you have a huge watermelon that weights 100 lbs. And its a given that 99% of that weight is water, 1% is watermelon. You leave the watermelon outside in the sun for a day. It dries out a little bit...such that the watermelon is now 98% water.

How much does it now weigh?

First to answer correct gets eleventy billion dollars.

100lbs 99% water. A gallon of water is approx 8lbs meaning there's 12.375 gallons of water in the melon. The melon itself is one pound.

Evaporation occurs. For every 1% increase in melon, there's a 99% decrease in water of equal size. So its a 2 to 1 trade off in water and melon. Thus a double in the size of melon means a half in the size of water. 12.375/2 = 6.1875 × 8lbs = 49.5lbs

That's how we(sort of)get to the 50lbs.

Do i remember ratios right or am i just bullshitting here? Note I had to have the answer to bullshit this up.

You’re correct.

But it’s easier just to say the non water part went from 1/100 of the mass to 1/50 of the mass.

What English word retains the same pronunciation when you take 4 of the 5 letters away?

I've seen this before. It's really pretty cool. I can read it without even having to pause...just as if the letters were all in the correct order.

Found out this week that my A/P A/R clerk who also is the front desk along with a thousand other functions that make our lives easy is going to leave the company for greener pastures.

She is LITERALLY being replaced by a hooters girl with zero experience in bookkeeping or banking.

God dammit.
