Fantasy Football Advice

Postby Buc2 » Tue Aug 25, 2015 1:27 pm

Okay... I just learned that we get the #1 pick in the upcoming draft in one of my leagues. We are starting fresh (no keepers). Who do you think I should select?

Here's the breakdown for points on the top skill positions:

Straight re-draft league, Peterson. Keeper league, Le'Veon Bell/Eddie Lacy. Dynasty league, more open... the two keeper picks plus Luck, Antonio Brown, Dez, or Gronk.

Your real test will but the 2nd and 3rd round turn though. Going RB first leaves you the most open, so that's what I'd do, 100%.

This used to be a 5 player keeper league, but we decided to start fresh and do a complete re-draft this season. Peterson, eh? I was leaning more towards a WR (Dez) or Gronk. If I take a RB 1st, I could always go QB and WR with my next 2 picks (#20 & #21 overall). I think WR is a pretty deep position, so that might not be a bad strategy I guess.

IMO, at 20-21, the Elite QB(s?) will be gone...so wait until the later rounds where production should be similar for most qb's youd draft in the 3-8 rounds.

Is it going to be a permanent re-draft? If so, Peterson should be a lock at 1. If it's going to be a 5-player keeper/dynasty going forward, I'd put Dez, Luck, and Gronk as the top guys to go after, and be happy with any of them.

Snagging AP 1 in the re-draft scenario leaves you with Cobb as your number 1 WR at worst. If the QBs go before then, you will get another WR1/RB1 in addition.

I'm not sure what the plan is for next season. That's an excellent question that I'm going to ask before our draft though.

You need to know that going in as it HEAVILY changes things in fantasy football. 5 Keepers is a lot in a standard league, so if you guys are just hitting reset and then reverting to 5 keepers, I'm not drafting Peterson til round 2.

Well... that's over. I think I did pretty good overall.

Pick - Player
1 - Eddie Lacy
20 - Calvin Johnson
21 - AJ Green
49 - Drew Brees
50 - Jimmy Graham
69 - Doug Martin (hoping his preseason flash continues into the regular season)
70 - Keenan Allen
89 - LeGarrette Blount
90 - Ryan Tannehill
109 - Baltimore Def.

Notable late rounders
229 - Arian Foster
249 - Roddy White
250 - Brandon LeFell

Great team. Would have gone Peterson and waited on backup QB, but other than that I think you nailed it.

I decided on Lacy since we're going to keep 3 players after this season. Same reason I jumped on Tannehill when I did. Plus, at the time, I didn't think I could have gotten him in a later round. He was the 10th QB taken and the only team that still hadn't taken a QB yet, took Flacco 3 picks later. I'll never know, but if I had been in his shoes, I'd rather have had Tannehill as my #1 over Flacco.

These were the next 10 players taken after Tannehill (10th QB taken).
1. Karl Klug (Ten - DT)
2. Stephen Gostkowski (NE - K)
3. Joe Flacco (Bal - QB)
4. DeAndre Levy (Det - LB)
5. St. Louis (StL - DEF)
6. Luke Kuechly (Car - LB)
7. C.J. Mosley (Bal - LB)
8. Adam Vinatieri (Ind - K)
9. Ameer Abdullah (Det - RB)
10. Jonathan Stewart (Car - RB)

Abdullah was 4 rounds late, and Stewart was 5 rounds late. Either is the pick given your RB situation. And in IDP, Kuechly is one of three guys in a tier of his own... so I'd have gone with him in hindsight. But Tannehill should have a good year.

Now that you mention it, I think I derped on Abdullah too. He would have been a great keeper as well.

Who To Start:

Joseph Randle, the great Cowboy hope, vs the Giants
or
DeAngelo Williams, in for Le'Veon Bell, vs the Pats

I see it as risk reward. The Randle start has a higher ceiling, or he could get 7 carries. Williams seems like a mortal lock for 15+ carries, but what will he do with them?

I think DeAngelo is going to put up solid RB2 numbers filling in for Bell. If you think you're the favourite, I think Williams is the safe play. If you need a role of the dice, you could go with Randle, but Williams has upside as well with all those touches he'll get.

You more than likely took Randle in the first 5-6 rounds....He's the guy in Dallas and you drafted him for a reason.

It's week 1 - Don't get cute and start the higher ranked guy.

Looking over my roster I feel like I am stacked at RB but lacking at WR and TE. I also need help deciding who I will start this week... 12 team PPR

RB
Justin Forsett
Matt Forte
Doug Martin
Alfred Morris

WR
DeAndre Hopkins
Julio
V-Jax
Nelson Agholor
Julian Edleman

TE
Heath Miller
Josh Hill

I have someone wanting to trade Hopkins for Mike Evans. I don't want V-Jax and him so I thought about doing a trade that was Hopkins and V Jax for Evans and Greg Olsen or Delanie Walker. Whoever he'd give up. Would it be worth it? I've never done a PPR. Its a full point per reception. Side note, the dude has Arians on the bench.

LOL.

So... not really a question for advice, but not sure where to throw it.

So I'm drafting a league right now.. a 16 teamer.. so depth will be scarce..

Someone just went Tannehill at 22. What?

I don't know if I would if I were either party, but I have a slight preference for Sanders.

Nice call, RBF

Had no clue Deangelo dropped that weight....He looked real nice and the Pats' horrific run D didn't hurt.

I think Dion Lewis has a much higher ceiling (especially in PPR leagues) and will continue to be a focal point in NE offense. Won't see many goaline carries but will be on the field alot as long as he holds onto the ball...
