2016 Fantasy Football Advice Thread

Another year!

Okay, I'm figuring out keepers. Fourteen team league. My first three (which are pretty awesome):
Le'Veon Bell
Todd Gurley
Jarvis Landry

It's the 4th one I'm having trouble with. I'm choosing between:

Jameis Winston, who is attractive not just because he's our guy, but because he only costs me a 16th round pick to keep. The question is if he's good enough to compete with the Cam Newtons and Drew Breeses of the fantsay world.

Or

Donte Moncrief, who is also a cheap keeper and with a healthy Luck and no Andre Johnson could be a breakout superstar, but is a gamble. If Landry is my WR2, can I trust Moncrief as my WR3? If he reaches his potential, he's an 80-1100-10 target.

Who do you keep? I kind of want to keep Winston. I could keep him for the next 4-5 years under our league rules. But quarterbacks are cheap. Moncrief could absolutely be the next great.

I would not keep Jameis because while you say he is cheap, he only has one season worth of fantasy stats and he could be just as bad as RGIII or Vince Young or Sam Bradford who all had good rookie seasons fantasy wise. I wouldn't mind having Jameis as my QB2, but I wouldn't rely on him as my starter.

As for Moncrief, if also only costs you a late round pick, I'd be okay rolling with him as my occasional flex/WR3 option.

Keep Jameis - In a 14 man league you need two QBs and getting a potential QB1 in the 16th round is huge.

And I don't see superstar potential in Moncrief even if Luck comes back to form...His floor looks ok but his type of ceiling can be found elsewhere in the draft.

I think you're confusing Jameis w/ Mariota here.

David Johnson or Doug Martin? 0.5 PPR league - 14 teams

I know the talking heads would go with Johnson in a heartbeat. I am leaning towards Johnson too because of his overall capabilities. Is it really as much of a no-brainer as the pundits think to go with Johnson over Martin?

I am new to a keeper-league, so guys like Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr., Julio Jones, etc. are already taken. I have the second overall pick.

D. Williams is a no brainer and I do not trust the NO defense.

Appreciate the feedback. Love Murray against NO but Ware had a huge game against SD last year and will be starting. Guess it's a good problem to have.

Good problem to have, I'd say Williams and Ware (since Charles and the other RB are injured). But all 4 of those guys are probably around the same projection.

So our AP owner isn't happy. Thinking about offering him Elliot for AP. Thoughts?

Interesting since both guys are kind of buy low candidates after a so-so first week. Main difference being that Elliot at least got the goal line TD. Tough call. I still view both guys as top 5 RBs going forward despite their respective QB situarions. Elliott's ceiling is enormous behind that O line, the question from Week 1 is whether the rest of that offense has actually regressed, or if the NYG additions really made their defense that much better.

I think in the end I keep the guy I drafted in Elliott, personally. I don't typically pull the trigger if I'm not extremely confident it makes my team better.

Yeah...It's a tough call. The one thing I don't like about Elliot is the fact that Morris and even Dunbar were in there so much and I'm not sure if that will change.

If it's a keeper league, I take Elliot, if not, pull the trigger and grab AP

Agreed about the keeper aspect. Although, I have AP and I wouldn't make that deal today.

Drop Torrey Smith for Mike Wallace?

My receivers are:

Demariyus Thomas
Kelvin Benjamin
Jordan Matthews
Josh Gordon
Travis Benjamin
Torrey Smith

Also which two would you start this week? I'm currently leaning Thomas and Matthew.

Torrey Smith is the only receiver that resembles an NFL starter in San Francisco. Keep him. Wallace is in a WR carousel in Baltimore with SSS, Perriman, and Aiken.

This week, you should start Benjamin (feel like it will be shootout against JAX) and Matthews.

Yeah, that was my thinking when I drafted him. I'll stick with that for now. Thanks.

I'm leaning Fuller.

two of the 4..

L. Miller vs KC
D. Murray vs Det
A. Foster vs NE
Yeldon vs SD

I 'want' to play Foster but having a hard time taking Miller/Murray out of my line up.

Yeldon is crap. I'm glad Ivory is back. I'm predicting he turns that rushing attack around. Ivory runs hard.

Week3 .5 PPR
I have Evans and Allen Robinson locked up as 1/2 WRs. Need my two starting RBs and my flex:
J. Hill vs Denver
I. Crowell vs Miami
M. Jones vs NYG
C. Artis-Payne vs Min
C. Ivory vs Baltimore
D. Washington (Det) vs GB
Tyler Lockett vs SF

Damn...these are rough. Crowell was the only one i could say yes to for sure...guessing on M. Jones and honestly, I'd look at the waiver wire for a good matchup for your flex.

I assume you mean Enunwa? He's looking like a nice option for the Jets but there's still way to many weapons to go around there. If Marshall is ruled out, he'd have a case to be made. But a 3rd WR on a team with Forte, Marshall, and Decker? Nope.
I don't trust Baldwin. He had a nice streak at the end of last season, along with rosters a very weak Miami secondary week 1- but I still don't trust Baldwin. Add his back spasm and injuries and a rolled ankle for Lockett, that's going to be a grueling divisional match up. With that said I'd still take him over Enunwa if Marshall is healthy, switch if Marshall is out. Start D Thomas and Hurns.

It looks like Marvin Jones is about to go into a nice shoot out with GB.
