What games are you looking forward to?

Postby Teitan » Sun Jan 18, 2015 5:31 pm

What are some games you guys can't wait for? A few I am anticipating:

Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

I'm really excited for MGSV. I grew up playing Metal Gear games.

I've been a big fan of the Uncharted series. The bad part of those games is that they are kinda linear. But I still like them. A friend of mine hates it though. Calls it man tomb raider. Ha.

I want to be excited about "The Order: 1886". It's gotten knocked a lot though for it's gameplay.

Witcher 3

And that's about it for this year, as for the future: TES VI and Mass Effect 4.

Pretty much this.

Side note: I can't find the inquisitor helmet or the Dwarven long sword mat; and I've completed all of the storyline quests up to the final showdown against Coryphebitch. What gives?

The Inquisitor helm schematic is notoriously hard to find. If you must have it however it drops off of either the Greater Mistral in Emerald Graves or one of the Emprise du Lion dragons.

Frankly, the way they made the schematics in to random drops was stupid. That being said, if they increase the drop rate it would be fine.

I don't mind too much because it was the studios first crack at a crafting system and I'm sure it will only improve with later iterations.

This is one I've been waiting for.

This is still my favorite RTS. Imagine Starcraft but in space and with fully three dimensional movement. The array of dirty tricks you could think up were endless. If there is a healthy multiplayer community, this will likely be my favorite game this year.

Half-Life 3, Left for Dead 3, and Portal 3 need to become a thing.

Valve is a pain in the ass.

Bethesda has a presentation at E3 this year for the first time. You have to think they'll show up with one or more of Fallout, Elder Scrolls or Dishonored. Otherwise, I don't see how they'll fill up the time. Ubisoft and EA both have a ridiculous amount of games to show each year, and they're the only other publishers that I can think of offhand that usually have presentations.

I think Valve's afraid to announce Half Life 3 because when (if) that day comes the internet will literally explode.

FO3 seems most likely to me. It's too early in the development cycle for it to be TES.

Almost tempted to get a PS4 for No Man's Sky. Colorful version of Elite: Dangerous......except hopefully it doesn't have the long travel times(It took me 26 minutes of FTL travel to get to a distant star one time...) and the absurdly hard docking procedure

Chick at the end is confirmed as the female version of the PC, surname: "Ryder"

Also had the release date pushed back to spring 2017. My body is ready.

I will buy it on day one, but I am concerned about the story. Mass Effect told a complete story, with definitive ends to pretty much all threads. I am not sure where they will go with it.

Well, it pretty much goes like this: A some point before or during the Reaper War in ME3 the different races of the galaxy, spearheaded by humanity, carry out and complete a project in which they build 3 Arks (massive ships filled with cryo-pods, capable of intergalactic travel.) They send these to Andromeda as a contingency to the Reapers winning. 600 years later the protagonist wakes up. We know at least their Ark makes it. This game is supposed going to.be heavily exploration themed, but I assume over this next trilogy a great story will unfold.

I'm interested how they handle who the main adversary is. Will we be fighting more Reapers, or will Andromeda have a new(potentially worse) group of bad guys. Also, how do you travel in new galaxy when all the ME relays are destroyed?

No Reapers, already confirmed. Who exactly the adversary is has not. The N7 Operative shown in the trailers is not the protagonist and will have an antagonistic role towards the protagonist. There will be several new alien species.

As for travel, I can only speculate. Either the Council species were able to reverse engineer the Conduit at Ilos and build their own miniaturized relays as well as provide the Arks with the means to construct relays in Andromeda, conventional FTL has gotten much faster and much more efficient, or this game is going to be taking place in a single star cluster in Andromeda. I would really prefer some sort of mix of the first and third options there as I feel like making the story smaller of scope, if not scale, can benefit this game. Particularly as it's an established series putting out a game with almost zero connection to the first three games. Thus everything and everyone is being introduced for the first time. Downsizing the scope of the story can allow for more of a focus on character development and can set up a grand, epic story for the final two games of the trilogy.

I was under the impression that a wormhole was found allowing travel to the next galaxy. You goal supposedly will be to find a new planet for humans to colonize.

Nah, the massive ships shown in the E3 trailer I posted are the Ark ships that will be traveling to Andromeda via FTL.
