Adam Smith

Terrific podcast last week at Cato if you are interested.

Only about 20 mins long but does a great job of correcting so many of the common misconceptions about him and his theories.

Also does a great job discussing the totality of his work -- from a linguist to a moral philosopher and social psychologist to an economist....and at the heart how he was a man studying "exchange"...whether it be exchange of languague/ideas (linguist), exchange of moral behavior and esteem and exchange of goods and services. Way ahead of his time.

So after this podcast I ordered the book “Adam Smith: Father of Economics” by Jesse Norman

Really good book, though it can be self serving and biased at times (but what book isn’t?) that looks at the totality of Smith’s thoughts and shows just how terribly his ideas are often perverted
