Lenten Challenge

Postby Crocaneers » Sat Feb 10, 2018 9:22 pm

I just don't know if I'm in.

I'm not Catholic and not sure about the giving up thing.

I don't mind the sacrifice and honestly thinking social media just to see but is it then pride?

Any insight or experience would be appreciated.

As a Catholic I tend to partake. Sometimes in life we get caught up in things and we forget to give thanks and devotion as much as we should. I think Lenten sacrifices are a nice way to remind us of what He did for us. Just a way to get Him back in the forefront of our minds again. We shouldn’t need these reminders...and I’m sure better people then me don’t. It’s like on Good Friday, I fast the entire day. Not because I think my sacrifice is anything big, but to remind myself of His sacrifice.

Same here. Fast on Ash Wednesday as well. No meat on Fridays. Just a small reminder to myself. The only day I find it's really tough is the Friday of March madness 1st round. I always take the day off and get together with a bunch of friends. We've got a huge table at a great sports bar, beer and wings all day. The temptation is real, but thankfully their vegetarian chili is decent.

Not Catholic, but I've done it for several years. My wife was raised in the church and chooses to go without an indulgence every year and skips meat on friday and every so often I'll play along.

One year I gave up porn and I have to admit that I was better off having done it. But most years I joke about giving up Catholicism for lent.
