Lecrae’s last album was amazing. Brought tears to my eyes listening start to finish. His journey mirrors my own over the past 6 years or so.

dc Talk was incredible . and TobyMac, Michael Tate (Newsboys), and Kevin Max are all doing quite alone solo. They remain one of my core groups.

I have spent over 20 years listening and way too long of a list here ..

Latest groups based on need or mood:
- I am They
- Sidewalk Prophets
- Branan Murphy
- Skillet
- NeedtoBreathe
- We are Messengers
- Lacrea
- Andy Mineo
- Manifest (you really need to rock on this )
- --- More later .. I need to work with the fam! :)

Not me. My parents made me attend a Christian school from 6-8 grade so I ended up hating Christian music with a passion and it really got me into groups like Iron Maiden, Slayer and of course Ozzy at that that stage in my life just to spite them.

I once got suspended for bringing an X-Men comic book to school because it had the mutant Beast on the cover. I was accused of promoting the Anti-Christ and told that if the Rapture were to happen right now I would be left behind.

Wow .. I am very sorry .. this always disappoints me (not on you, the system, the people, etc) , and yet I understand. I get it .. I don't believe X-men get you sent to hell, and in fact, will state to anyone that its one of my favorite movie series.

Jars of Clay, DC Talk, Plum; very old school P.O.D. (Before they went mainstream)

My church was blessed with amazing musical talent; but I can’t for the life of me remember what the CD they came out with was called. I listened to that nonstop for quite a while.

Edit: there was also a pretty good Christian punk band whose name escapes me at the moment...

Not your fault, it was just a bad school and not a good representative of Christianity. They even viewed Stryper as evil and Satanic.

good song, videos are no longer good

This group lives in South Florida, and this song was written out of the Parkland tragedy

Not really exclusively Christian music but Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds has quite a few songs with some very Christian symbolism and themes. They're also really, really good.

Used to play bass with some guys who formed Bellarive and singer Sean Curran. He does the song Worthy of Your Name. Really good stuff and you are into the Passion style worship tracks.

If looking for something a bit heavier, then GS Megaphone has a really good album. This isn't really my genera so I don't remember how I stumbled upon them.

The only other one that I don't see mentioned is Kendall Payne. Not sure if she would be officially listed in this genera, but her album Jordan's Little Sister is really good but feels very much like it could fit into the genera if not fully accepted. Looks like the album won a gospel award and she runs a church now. So probably a safe assumption she fits in this thread.

Does Buffett's, "My Back Hurts, My Feet Stink and I Don't Love Jesus" count?

Asking for a friend.

I'll hang up and listen...

This is by far my favorite Christmas album ever made. It ties the birth of Christ in with the Old Testament symbols and prophecies using many different musical instruments and genres. Deep lyrical significance and beautifully sung by an ensemble of indie Christian recording artists. And some instrumental carols mixed in with great originals.

It’s basically a concept album, so if you want to be immersed in it, set aside a full hour to just listen without interruption.

This is exceptional! I met Andrew at an event in G'ville a few months back, and he was talking about this project.

I love this season and the many number of great songs released on the topic. Here are my favorites:

Born to Die - Bebo Norman

Just a girl - Brandon Heath

Joseph's Song - Michael Card

and ....My absolute favorite

Mary did you do you know - Mark Lowery
