More than that.

More RO's, mandate 1 for every 1k students.
No armed faculty
Better technology and security at perimeters of schools
Some stuff around mental health and taking firearms and/or added restrictions.

It's a start...

What would you say is the most important thing the next Governor of the state should address first regardless of who it is?

I haven't been back long enough to have a solid opinion on this.

No, and Rick Scott will probably win because this state loves criminals.

I don't know anything about either of these guys as I don't live in Florida. What are their platforms?

Bill Nelson is a former Astronaut and the incumbent. He's a blue dog Democrat which means he's left of Marco Rubio, but not by much. Nelson's platform is to stay in the Senate.

Rick Scott is the current governor, carpetbagger, and living embodiment of Skeletor. His platform is to make a fuck-ton of money.

Bill Nelson and Rick Scott are polling pretty tight with Nelson up 1.4

Scott has been blasting Nelson with attack ads up here and I wish I could post them because one of them I think will be very effective. It's the one with all the folks on the street repeating talking points with the most salient of them being "It's time for Bill Nelson to come home" and the dumbest being one that suggests that Pelosi has a huge influence on him (Which makes zero sense since Nelson is in the Senate and Pelosi is in the House)

Too close to call. obviously I'd like to see Rick Scott shot out of a cannon. Especially with this bullshit ad.

Republican primary for Governor:

Desantis has a 1 point lead over Adam Putnam who I have a bone to pick with in this ad.

This cheesedick just admitted to inheriting 5 generations of farm wealth (before getting elected to the legislature at 22 years old)and then has the balls to tell Floridians he knows what hard work is. Still, I bet this hits his audience right in the Fox News feels.

No, I don't boycott Publix because they gave Putnam $670,000. I had lunch there today. If I had to pick a Republican in this race, I'd be hard pressed to give Putnam a nod. Especially with the attack ad he's running up here on Desantis from the right of all places suggesting he voted for Amnesty. Isn't Desantis out there with my idiot congressman blabbering nonsense on Fox every night?

Democrat primary for Governor:
Phil Levine also has a margin of error lead (1-2 points) over Gwen Graham and Talahassee mayor Andrew Gillum who finally got into the race (polling wise) I've seen very few ads up here in the Trumpistan panhandle, but so far, I like Levine and would consider Gillum. Graham is a little too to the right for my liking and seems in the Hillary mold at first glance. for example she's made no comment about cannabis and is choosing to focus her campaign on the children. Zzzzzzzzzz

Started to write a thing on Levine and what I like about him, but it was turning into a stump speech and we can wait for the general for that. I just wanted to start talking about these campaigns.

For any Florida voters interested there is a debate tonight in the Florida GOP governors race between Adam Putnam and Ron DeSantis.

It's a 1 hour debate that starts at 6:30pm and will be aired on FoxNews and FN radio.

I find De Santis more palatable than Adam Putnam. But I won't be voting for either of them in the general.

Gwen Graham an Phil Levine are both establishment Democrats who don't fire me up all that much. They both check the boxes for me on cannabis, CJ reform, and the state minimum wage, but they aren't what some here would describe as unhinged lunatics. I'm leaning towards Levine in the Primary, but will vote for Graham (currently leading) in the general if she wins.

I wouldn't call Bill Nelson a great politician, but how he is trailing perennial scumbag Rick Scott is indicative to me how shitty the old guard of milquetoast Democrats have become. Pity Nelson doesn't have a primary challenger.

Up here in the 1st district, I have the choice of Navy vet Phil Ehr and Physician Jennifer Zimmerman to serve up as the sacrificial lamb for my douchebag congressman, Matt Goetz. Ehr is running to Goetz's left, but is to the right of a guy like Bill Nelson with a look at my DD-214 campaign. Zimmerman appears to be completely tone deaf and I doubt she comes anywhere near 50% of the primary vote, let alone the general. Even her website is boring. In the end, I expect Goetz to hold because my neighbors are ****ing stupid.

I've had enough of Rick Scott for one lifetime even if it means voting for Nelson. He's not even all that bad. It's just like buying an old car that you know is better than the new one.

Actually know Ron (DeSantis) personally. Served with him when he was in the Navy. We shared a few drinks and stories. He's a really good guy. Pretty damn good looking wife, too. He tried to set me up with her friend at the time but it didn't work out. Also played ball against him when he went to Little League WS in Williamsport. Actually met Adam Putnam one time, too, when he visited MacDill and he's a really stand-up and classy guy as well. So the republicans have two really good candidates, IMO. I'd be fine with either one of them.

I mean, if you look at the Republican party today vs Jeb's policies in the 90s/early 00's it's hardly the same party. I mean the only thing Jeb! fucked up was the school system.

Modern GOP be like:

I literally know nothing about DeSantis and that corny-ass ad was enough for me to decide not to vote for him. At the very least he has poor decision making skills.
