MLK vs. Benjamin Franklin

Postby Mountaineer Buc » Mon Jan 01, 2018 4:16 pm

6th seed vs. #1 seed.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Runner up for Greatest American of the 20th Century. Defeated Greatest American of the 21st Century, Elon Musk.

Generally considered the greatest American to never hold public office. Subject of several films that never get it quite right.

Benjamin Franklin

Greatest American of the 18th Century.

One of the most fascinating Americans to have ever lived, Franklin was a talented writer, scientist, inventor, and diplomat. Today honored on the $100 bill, and has never been the subject of a film.

Ya. Not even close.

I bet dr. King would’ve taken him in a bare-knuckle throw down, though.

Although, you could see Madison trying to jump in at some point.

I don't know. Benny had a couple of inches and probably 50-60 pounds on MLK... and he liked to throw them back, so probably got in more than a few bar brawls in his day..

A historical who'd kick whose ass isn't the worst idea for a poll/bracket.

If there is a pool on that, I am taking Teddy Roosevelt.

I would take Lincoln in that one.... He was locally famous for his wrestling in his younger days and with his reach, these other guys would be hard pressed to take him

True... but Marty has 300 years of pent up angst which makes for one hell of a chip on his shoulder. That's got to count for something.

King's finishing move, of course, being the "Million Dollar Dream"...

While Ben probably counters with "the Peoples Elbow"...

Lets get it on!

That might be the most ignorant, non-sensical comment, I've ever read from you.

I see Red Follower as a misguided fool too, but in this instance I think he was just referring to the results of the poll and not a statement about the men involved.
