Promotion and project at work has got me so that I don't have much internet time. And I rarely look at a computer when I'm not at work.

CBO has released their assessment of the Senate tax plan. Estimate $1.4 Trillion deficit increase coupled with increased taxes on everyone making below $40,000.

It's a feature, not a bug.

Just two days ago weren't you engaged in a discussion with a Trump voter with them criticizing the debt policy of the R party?

Or does that not count because its not in this thread?

Due to the pay-as-you go rule, the GOP tax plan is set to cut $150 billion in spending from domestic programs including $25 billion in funding for Medicare, $20 billion in agriculture aid, and major cuts to the Dept of Education's loan servicing.

So smaller farms are screwed, students hoping for loans are screwed, and poor families needing to see a doctor are screwed. That said, with the economy growing, unemployment trending down, and wages slowly going up with our current tax plan, it's important that we push through this new tax plan to raise taxes on anyone making less than $40k so the highest earners can add more money into their mutual funds because **** the poor it's somehow necessary for the country.

Anyone have a problem with lobbyists giving Dems the text of the tax bill they wrote?

Seriously, explain the need for this tax reform when the economy is already doing well? Ever hear the expression "if it ain't broke, don't fix it?"

Seriously, though, can we all just agree that no politician gives a **** about the debt? And there’s no amount of whining that will change that.

But why was it necessary to pass a tax bill that will greatly increase the deficit when the economy is already doing well? The deficit increase isn't to pay for infrastructure improvements or any public services... It's just a revenue drop. Why?

I was playing around.

And I’ve been whining about wreckless spending and the debt for as long as I can remember. I just recently realized that neither side gives a **** about the debt. They talk a lot about it, but at the end of the day, they do nothing to fix it. Clearly they don’t care.

The tax cut should be titled The Middle Class Elimination Act because there will be no middle class left if this bill becomes law.

It's conservative economic gospel.

The conservatives believe that the government is too big and spending too much for little return. This is more a matter of perspective than fact, however, that's what they believe.

Given that belief, they push an economic policy that intends to starve the government of that money so it can't afford to do what it does. This sets them up to justifiably cut what they deem wasteful and overreaching. The word for this is Austerity.

Conservatives also believe that the best way to inject money into the economy is to lower taxes and regulations on businesses and high income earners who in their view are the job creators and the backbone of the economy. So the strategy is two-fold.

Enable the job creators and cut the government. So yes, conservatives DO care about the deficit and they do care about the economic well being of the country.

Where they go wrong is using austerity to create prosperity. It just doesn't work.

I get all that, but typically you'd think they would only want to make a major change to the economy when it's doing bad and needs a "kick start" so to speak. It doesn't need that right now. It's chugging along just fine. This is like rushing to put snow chains on your tires in June.

Trump ran on kickstarting the economy. He lambasted everything he saw as a drag on the economy from immigrants to environmental regulations to lobbyists.

One of the biggest positives people saw was that he wasn't a politician and "couldn't be bought".

Unfortunately for us all, he's also an unhinged lunatic.

Wanna eat - you work

If you work - you pay taxes

If you pay taxes - you help the country

Pretty simple.
