Maybe I should come over your house sometime so you can show me.

I skipped over the posts once we started discussing with party cares about black people, but have you guys seen how crazy this Kayne character was when he did a TMZ interview a couple days ago after tweeting about Trump. This clown is a nut job! He said that blacks were in slavery for 400 years by choice. The he said that he was hooked on opioids because he had liposuction and(?) plastic surgery and it was everyone else's fault that he got it done because he didn't want people to call him fat. LOL!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying its overt racism....some is, but a tiny minority. What some see as hate, I see as apathy. They just DGAF.

And what others may see as hate or even apathy could just be people putting their own individual priorities over that of what others feel is best for the collective.

As a Capitalist and Conservative I don't believe there is a finite amount of wealth or opportunity to be had for people. Me pursuing my educational and economic goals so my kids have a better life and the wife and can retire while we're still able to enjoy life doesn't mean I hate or DGAF about others. I want opportunities for everyone and support any laws and ideas that align with that ideal. But I don't like increased government interference in what I have to purchase or how need to behave providing I'm not preventing anyone else's pursuit of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness/fulfillment.

I understand people have to overcome obstacles based on situations that are beyond their control while other do not. Most of those obstacles are related to economics, but get conflated with race. Many descriptions of 'White Privilege' are simply examples of economic privilege being conflated into a race issue in attempt to divide an conquer, which imo is what identity politics is all about. The amusing irony about identity politics is that eventually you will break enough groups up into sub-groups to where we are down to the individual once again.

But regardless of race or economics we are all privileged to be American where as long as you complete HS (which is free), don't have a kid before marriage, and get a job (unemployment is at 3.9% and 18yr low) then you are virtually guaranteed not to live in poverty.

There are obviously things we can improve on, and as a society we are. Less and less people are live in poverty every year, less people are hungry every year, less people die from preventable diseases. So America and the world is not as bad as some people make it out to be. In fact there is no better time or place to be alive than right now in America when it comes to freedom and being in control of your own future, this is even more true for demographic minorities including women.

He's definitely crazy, and that specific comment was obviously something no person regardless of race should ever say. But in the context of that conversation he was also speaking to the current mentality. It just was a terrible use of words and made anything he was trying to discuss irrelevant.

I will say the #IfSlaverywereaChoice comments on twitter were hilarious the next day.

I've yet to see a police lives matter bumper sticker on the streets. I bought some bumper stickers, but never used em cause I don't want my car keyed. "white, heterosexual male gun owner, how else can I piss you off today?" hehe

Kolin made his bed, it might take a couple year for him to be the next jesse jackson--then they will see his true intentions, but he knew what he was doing when he started it....and it sure as hell aint about BLM. it's about HIM!

Maybe MB is talking about the thin blue line sticker.

Almost everyone I know who has that has either been a LEO, is a LEO, or has family that are LEO. It's been around far before BLM, but it supports LEO and the sacrifices they make. They got really popular around 2000 and again recently. I've also seen them with a red line for Firefighters.

and no I don't have any bumper sticker on my vehicles. I'd never taint Black Betty like that...I don't even like the 4 x 4 sticker on the side.

not to hijack the thread, but are you friends with these people on FB? I've found it to be divisive in that people I have known and been friends with very much put me off when I see all the FB stuff they post from moveon to notmy president etc. etc. It got much worse after Parkland. I then stopped using it. Weird because if you meet people, take them at face value and talk all is cool. but ater you've seen 20 rants against what you think is right.....just hard to see them in the same light.

I'd hope not. For the sake of the Democratic party. That sticker predates BLM and is just a show of support for the LE community like you stated. I don't feel supporting the active duty Military, Vets, LE, Firefighters, etc is a partisan act. If people feel it is than that is too bad for them b/c I don't believe that message resonates well among the masses.

Any of you Conservatives or Libertarians care to try an experiment?

Select a belief or fundamental truth that is typical of your ideological viewpoint, and I will reciprocate with one of my own. (preferably, they'll both be in the same general topic)

Throw in some suggested reading that articulates the basis for this belief and I'll read it and try and research the viewpoint further for it's fundamental basis rather than assuming you and the author(s) are crazy, evil, greedy, etc. and you do the same. Afterwards we share notes.

It's a critical thinking experiment and hopefully dovetails with Zarni's "we can agree" thread.

I don't have a specific topic in mind so I'm open to suggestions.

I don't know if that's a great topic for my suggestion since most of the evidence one way or another is anecdotal.

No. I understand that the thin blue line represents the line between order and chaos.

I literally saw a police lives matter sticker on a car about a week ago.

The article is not incorrect, but did you read it? It's true that very few special interest groups wanted to donate to him before it started to look like he'd win the primary. He still wasn't self-funded and I'm not aware of him refusing any money from any special interest groups. Furthermore, he wasn't self-funded. He loaned his campaign money.
He took in 100's of millions of dollars from special interest groups starting around the time that it looked like he had a real chance to win the republican nomination.
https://www.opensecrets.org/pres16/cand ... =N00023864

Are you really ignorant or gullible enough to believe that Trump didn't take money from special interests but Bernie did?

Interest groups donated to Trump's record-breaking inauguration fund

you'd have to be pretty convinced, and have specific circumstances of someone close to you to do so, but yes I would..... as would many open minded homosexuals you speak with. thats why there's so many bisexuals....just with a guy, you don't go and come back lol. I'd take personal experience over someone's paper all day long though. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinsey_scale

and I personally have never gone nboth ways. we'll leave it at that. probably to much of a sore spot for most though.

I'm going to let you know that your argument would be ripped to shreds.

I guess I should have said, does anyone have a logical argument based on facts they could honestly present about homosexuality being a choice. I don't think anyone would.

FWIW your post made me shake my head 4 times, rare for this board. Congrats for that.

So you think schizophrenia, bi-polar, depression or any mental illness is a choice, outside of a small portion of the population who is born, a "certain way"?

To you a person who strikes out at a bar thinks to themselves, "I'll just try kids from now on" and bam, that's how a pedophile is born?

That's the earth is flat level ignorance.
