That was my first thought too. This was my first experience with that. Then again, as I'm typing this, I realized that people (basically every baby boomer in the US) sit there for AT LEAST thirty six minutes every night, watching some guy babble on about about whatever advertisers pay them to babble on about. Shocking that people do that as well.

**** that! That's what DVR's are for. DVR today, watch tomorrow.

I think it's closer to them sitting and listening to someone babble about what they want to hear. I can't imagine that someone feels so strongly about Weinstein that this would be in their wheelhouse. But here we are.

Consumer confidence at highest level since 2000
BY MAX GREENWOOD - 10/31/17 11:35 AM EDT

Consumer confidence in the U.S. has reached its highest point in nearly 17 years, according to a new survey out Tuesday.

The Consumer Confidence Index now stands at 125.9 – its highest point since December of 2000, when it hit 128.6, the Conference Board, a business research group, said. Last month, the index reached 120.6.

Consumers' outlook on current economic conditions improved from last month, and they appear optimistic about the short-term outlook, Lynn Franco, the Conference Board's director of economic indicators, said in a statement, noting that the economy is likely to continue growing at a steady pace for the rest of the year.

The findings signal more good news for the economy. Also fueling consumer confidence is the job market, "which had not received such favorable ratings since the summer of 2001," Franco said.

Unemployment currently sits at 4.2 percent — its lowest point in 16 years. According to the survey, the percentage of consumers who said jobs are "plentiful" increased from 32.7 to 36.3 percent since last month. Conversely, the number of people who said jobs were hard to get declined from 18 percent to 17.5 percent.

It will be interesting to see if this confidence will reflect in the retail numbers this holiday season.

My guess is yes. Real Wages have been increasing as well. Interest rates, while creeping up, are still incredibly low. Unemployment continues to stay very low.

I don’t think we will see 8 or 10% increases from last year, but I suspect the gains will be non trivial.

Good article, thanks for posting

EXCLUSIVE: DNC Official Says She Doesn't Want To Recruit 'Cisgender Straight White Males'
They don't want more individuals in the "majority" having jobs within the party ...

By ELLIOTT HAMILTON
October 30, 2017 63k views

Employees within the Democratic National Committee are looking for new employees in the Technology Department. However, the DNC is apparently not interested in your resume if you happen to be a white male.

In an email issued to DNC insiders on Monday, Data Services manager Madeleine Leader announced that the Technology Department is looking to fill several positions and asked interested parties to forward the openings to their colleagues.

Image

She included the following caveat:

I personally would prefer that you not forward to cisgender straight white males, since they're already in the majority.

In response to this email, an anonymous DNC source told The Daily Wire the following:

Clearly the DNC is doubling down on a failed strategy that has alienated staffers and voters alike. We want to be judged based on the quality of our work, not on identity politics. How can we trust the leadership of the DNC if they don’t even trust us?

The Daily Wire contacted Ms. Leader about the contents of her email, but she declined to comment.

After the latest scandals to plague the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 presidential election, the new leadership under Tom Perez and Keith Ellison (D-MN) seek to rebrand the party as a more inclusive and welcoming community. Unfortunately, this email doesn't exactly help their case.

If I were a qualified IT candidate, I'd be kinda pissed to find this out. Seems pretty much the definition of discrimination to me. Assuming, of course, that this is really what her email said and was not doctored in the image above.
