The story is good enough.
The action is good.

But I’m a bit of a nerd for the Star Wars universe.

I think the show would have benefited, and could in the future, from longer episodes that flesh out other characters better, and maybe a little bit darker tone. 20-ish minute episodes isn’t quite cutting it.

I like the look/feel of the worlds as well. The action scenes are good. However, here's where we'll have to agree to disagree... The story is not good enough. If it were, I wouldn't be bored with it already.

Like you and many, many others here, I love Star Wars. I love most any space stuff. The Expanse (S4 premieres Dec. 13 on Amazon, btw). Mars. Star Trek. Guardians of the Galaxy. Interstellar. And on and on. Hell, I've finally gotten around to watching ST: DS9 (just finished S3:E10 last night in fact) and it has more compelling stories than what I'm seeing after 4 episodes of Mandalorian. I'll keep tuning in this first season with the hope it gets better. But if it doesn't, I may not be back for a season two.

Anyone watch 11.22.63. On Hulu? I started it today about a quarter of an episode in. Man it’s pretty compelling with the storyline and who directed it.

The morning show on Apple+

The first four episode of this series has got me hooked and am looking forward to the rest of the series.

The book's better simply because Franco is wrong for the role. They also tweaked the story a bit. Both kind of took the heart out of the miniseries.

Good watch though, I'm just gonna always going to be one of those annoying people who compare adaptions to the book.

This is fair.

The show needs to develop some stakes very soon. Right now it's like watching a video game with too many sidequests and not enough main plot. Hopefully the next episode clues us in on the villains a bit more. We can obviously discern what's going on with Yoda in broad strokes, but now would be the time to start dropping details.

Franco is really good at playing stoners, weirdos, and guys who are in on the joke (nobody else could have done Tommy Wiseau.) I agree he was all wrong for this, and it sort of ruined it for me.

It's supposed to be a slow-meditative western, in the spirit of maybe, "Once Upon A Time In The West" or really any of the Spaghetti westerns. That usually means it's light on plot, big on grand scenery and quiet moments, you know the drill. But right now, they really do need to speed it up a bit.

Yeah. I get that. But we're 4 hours in and...well...nothing. At this point, I'd find it exciting just to see him with his helmet off. lol

The Mandalorian

The streamer has moved up the episode up from the show's usual Friday spot to air on Wednesday, December 18 - ahead of Rise of Skywalker's Thursday afternoon December 19 theatrical debut.

In the show's December 27 season finale, the Mandalorian will come "face-to-face with an unexpected enemy." Someone from Rise of Skywalker turning up would be unexpected for us at least, eh?

Who do you think?

Rey? Maybe she’s looking for baby yoda?

Rey isn’t alive yet.

I’d say unexpected is Han Solo. Maybe Luke.

You’re right, I forgot The Mandalorian is 5 years after The Return of Jedi event.

Maybe time jump? I dunno

I’m still interested to see more of what’s going on with the Empire Sleeper Cell, what Baby Yoda is going to do, etc.

Finished 11.22.63. Blah blah blah James Franco can’t sell a head trauma. He sold the love with that beautiful young built for the 60s woman very well. Franco was great with the agent too. The story left more to be desired.

Also please someone other than me like Prodigal Son so I can stop feeling like a serial killer. It’s pretty good man. Main actor does a pretty good job. And it’s more than just a psychological show. I enjoy the storylines greatly.

It’s wayyyyy too much work man. You’d have to know some people to even think about being a killer. Plus I’m a naturally really lazy person. My ticker doesn’t work the best. Plus you’d have to have a deep psychological hatred of some kind of person or messianic mission that you’re saving them. I’m just a normal dude who is fascinated by the crazy minds. Makes me feel sane.

As for the bet put me down at 1 dollar for is, what are the odds? Worst case I ever become one I have a fall back plan.

V Wars on Netflix.

Only an episode in but from what I’ve seen so far it’s a horror/vampire show: interesting set up with a doctor who is a specialist in infectious disease. Won’t spoil anymore than that. Not a bad watch thus far.

I feel like I went through all this with "The Strain." Vampire Virus, society slowly collapses before anyone notices, small resistance cell dedicated to saving mankind, etc. Is that about right?

From what I’ve watched, it’s been done before but the Vampire virus is different. It’s not biting the neck. They’re focusing on a tabloid website too. It’s got its moments thus far.

Actually, no. That isn’t quite right. Some of those elements are there, but not like you think. Regardless, I’m enjoying the series so far. Not everyone will, but that’s okay. No show works for everyone.

I’m about 6 episodes in. They kill off every character I like. The acting is kind of rough at times. Other than that it’s enjoyable. I like the deeper messages of the show.

Yeah...it's not a great show. But it's not that bad. Better than many. Good filler while many shows are on Christmas hiatus.

Agree with Buc2. It’s got its moments of coolness but the story is bad. And I can’t force myself to watch it anymore.

Started watching Burn Notice again last night. That show would have been such a bad ass show if they had someone with actual mixed martial arts skill to teach hand to hand combat. The actor can’t do the physical stuff at all.
