Have been binging Manhunt:Unabomber. Excellent show. Anyone who enjoyed Mindhunter will greatly enjoy it, not dissimilar at all, though compelling in a very different way.

I loved the books so much that I'm nervous to watch the show.

Just finished episode 7 last night so 3 more to go. I recently upgraded my TV from an 50" LCD that was 7-8 yrs old to a 75" 4K and HOLY **** it was different.

But the show is good for most part. Some parts are hokey and the acting isn't the greatest. But the story line is fascinating having not read the book.

I'm 2 1/2 episodes in now. It's OK. I'll keep watching. I was hoping for better. Maybe I had too high of expectations

I finished episode 8 last night. It's OK and has been worth the watch.

Without reading the book there are parts where I was like wtf is going on here.

Acting is certainly subpar, but the story is cool enough and it's visually stimulating.

I probably had too high of expectations also, but that isn't the show's fault. I certainly don't regret watching it and look forward to how it wraps up in the final two episodes.

Indeed. I won't spoil it but pretty much every major female character gets nekkid at some point. In the episode 8 there is a nekkid girl fight!!

Hell yeah!

That's how the wife roped me into "Tru Blood"...literally within 15 minutes of the first episode some "vamper" was hammering away on some pretty young gal....I was all in after that...

The wife and I binged on the entire 1st season of "Big Little Lies" this weekend (7 episodes)....

Definitely a chickflick series, but I enjoyed it as well...

I'm also a sucker for Reese Witherspoon...I've always had a little thing for her..

Channel Zero >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> American Horror Story

This current season of Channel Zero is the scariest TV program ever. And I've seen pretty much every scary show ever. I've let my 11 year old son watch the Insidious series, Hellraiser, the good Elm Street movies...I wouldn't let him anywhere near this season of Channel Zero.

Do the seasons stand alone like AHS, or do they all connect?

No connection whatsoever. Even less connection than AHS, because most of the writers and almost all of the actors are all new (there are a couple who've been in 2 seasons, in small different roles.)

Jump right in with Butcher's Block. IMHO it's easily the best of the three. The first one (Candlewood Cove?) had a little too much going on for me. The second one (No End House) had too little going on and kind of dragged. This season is nailing it perfectly. But man, I find it unsettling.

I will definitely be checking this one out. First I've heard of it, to be honest.

A Finnish friend of mine was discussing a British series called, Peaky Blinders, when he recommended a few other series' that he has watched. If you can stand sub-titles, these were the shows he recommended which can all be found on Netflix.

La Mante, a French series. Starring Carole Bouquet who was also the lead female actor in 007: For Your Eyes Only.

Dicte, a Danish series.

Varg Veum, a Norwegian series.

Luther, another British series (so no sub-titles obviously) with Idris Elba.

Speaking of Peaky Blinders, if you like gangster stuff, you'd probably like this. It's about a British crime family of Romanian/Gypsy heritage in post-WWI Birmingham, UK. It just finished it's 4th 6 episode season.

Peaky blinders is really good, wish they would do more episodes. Just started another British show called The Frankenstein Chronicles. First couple episodes have been pretty good.

Any thoughts on Penny Dreadful? I got about 2 episodes in and got sidetracked. Worth the time to jump back in?

It doesn't get any better. If you thought what you saw so far was worth watching...stick with it.

If you are waiting for some big jump in quality / story I wouldn't expect it.

I watched it all...it was OK. I don't think I'll ever go back and rewatch

I liked Peaky Blinders...I'm a big Cilian Murphy fan...plus Tom Hardy had a good role (even if it was small).

I thought the only time it got close to jumping the shark was when Murphy started working with the gov't.

I just started the third season. I have loved it so far, but I'm not a huge fan of that angle or how the third season is starting off. I'm really hoping they scale back some.

It's a common misconception, but Gypsies are "Romani" not Romanian.

The short season with longer episodes formula is part of why I enjoy British TV shows (Luther and Sherlock are favorites). They don’t drag out seasons with BS filler because they need to fill 12-24 episodes. The season is as long as needed to tell the story.
