Almost finished with Manhunt: Unabomber on Netflix. Sam Worthington and Paul Bettany. It's pretty decent, and interesting to revisit that case.

Looking forward to Netflix's Mindhunters in October.

Monday Commercial TV Review

CBS - Young Sheldon - Mistake. Mine for watching, them for making it. Not that funny, and trying to ride the coattails of one of the funniest shows on TV
ABC - The Good Doctor - WOW. I admit I'm a hospital show junkie, but this is a great new add! Freddie Highmore is brilliant, and brings to light the strength, and struggles of autism. This is worth the hour and commercials :)

I watched The good doctor last night. They have a shot at doing something good delving into the awkward space in trying to understand someone on the spectrum in a critical job, but if it turns into him using his Autism Superpowers to save the patient every week, it'll be short lived.

I thought The Good Doctor reminded me a combination of House and Grey's .. and just saw that David Shore is the creator of The Good Doctor. I dont think he will let the "super hero" thing take over. I see the concern, and hope he doesn't. I didnt see last night too over the top.

Yep. Honestly I cant stand 99% of these 'network' dramas/comedies/action shows. They are terrible.

Watch the youtube video : Rick and Morty Theory: Why Rick is so Depressed

https://youtu.be/YQyvm6DSU28

Then think about that when you watch this season. They've really doubled down on breaking the 4th wall. The first half of the video just explains the show, the second half is the interesting part, starting at like 2:22. Obviously that youtube spoils the **** out of the show. Don't watch it unless you've seen season 1 and 2.

edit: I know some thought that episode wasn't as deep/good as most. I loved it. It displays how dominant Rick really is.

Anyone watching Young Sheldon? Series premier just aired. I liked it. It is narrated by Jim Parsons.

It was pretty good, but it reminded me a bit too much of a disney show that I used to watch when I was a kid(revealing my age).

I'm not far behind you. As soon as this football season is over, I'm done with Directv. I have Netflix, Amazon and HBO Go available to me for free, so there is no need for me to be paying for a satellite subscription. Sunday Ticket is why I've so stubbornly kept DTV, but now there are ways to watch online for free, so what's the point anymore?

If anyone wants to catch up on premium channel shows (HBO, Showtime, etc.) your public library should have every episode on DVD/BluRay.

That's how I saw every episode of both Entourage, Weeds, and Californication.

I binged season 2 of Stranger Things. Just as good as the first season IMO. They were able to keep the same vibe while expanding the plot and adding a few new faces.

Agreed, great second season. Still found myself enamored by the story, and immersed in how well they pull off the time frame. Most movies/shows feel like an imitation of the time period where here I truly feel like I'm watching something made in the 80's.

Oh and Steve Harrington continues to be the man!

Just read about a new sci-fi series that will be debuting on Netflix in February called, Altered Carbon. Looks worth a watch.

Netflix
Published on Dec 4, 2017

Based on the award-winning novel, Altered Carbon takes place in a future where the human mind can now be digitized and downloaded into a "cortical stack" and placed into new bodies, called sleeves.

The series follows Envoy soldier Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman), who is brought back to life centuries later to investigate the attempted murder of Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy), the wealthiest man on Earth. As the investigation progresses, Kovacs comes to learn that his past isn’t nearly as buried as he thought.

The series debuts exclusively on Netflix February 2nd, 2018.

cool. i'm interested.

wanted to like Stranger Things, just didn't for whatever reason... just didn't grab me (despite the fact that I've been listening to "synthwave" music pretty regularly for about 3-4 years, love that retro-80's vibe, am all into MK Ultra/conspiracy crap, and loved the Goonies... only made it through 4 episodes of the first season before I just kind of forgot about it). Same goes for the new bladerunner... wanted to love it... just felt kind of shallow

hopefully this scratches that itch

Ya, the new Bladerunner sucked. Over the top political.

The first one was better as it was much more subtle and clever. I hate being beaten over the head by movies or books. It’s one of the reasons I never got into Ayn Rand as much as some of my friends...particularly her novels...her non fiction is much better. While I sympathize with many of her thoughts....she is horrible at the craft of writing. The new Bladerunner felt the same.

Maybe you should give Netflix's, Dark, a go, beard. I wasn't sure I liked it. Next thing I knew, I was 4 episodes in.
It's definitely a dark series, but strangely compelling as well. Makes me keep watching.

Vikings has been really good this season. Some really good battle scenes in England in this week's episode. I can't decide who's hotter, Lagertha or Astrid.
