I've been holding off turning on the heat in my townhome. I've been tempted a couple of times to turn it on. Especially this week because I've been off all week and home most of the day. Last night got down in the mid-30's and when I got up this morning, the temp was down to 65 in the house and it's only managed to warm up to 68 so far which is further tempting me to turn it on.

But I will resist, dammit!

Tonight - Hit up Cotsco for some supplies
Saturday - Daughter has dance/ballet in AM, we're going to some pumpkin patch/corn maze in Brooksville in the afternoon, Dinner with friends at night
Sunday - Church in AM, Football the rest of the day w/ friends and family. Probably going to with the usual menu of smoked ribs, Old Fashioneds, and Unholys.

Not to sound like a fat kid but there is something almost orgasmic about having an Old Fashioned (or just Bourbon) after eating a plate of ribs.

Tonight: Delivering pizza. This'll be my last Friday night doing it for a while and I'm glad I can afford to cut my hours a bit

Tomorrow: It's Bryan's 10th Birthday! Kid is still battling cerebral palsy and seizures. Cost to put him on medical MJ was quoted at $34,000 a year, but he's hangin tough and still a great kid. Pizza delivery after the fun.

Sunday: Still need to check if I'm getting the Bucs game (practically an afterthought these days) and more work.

Monday: My first born child will no longer be a child. 18 years old! That was quick. Taking the day off to spoil her so you turds will be without my keen insight and wisdom for much of the day.

Tonight: not sure, but I won't be working
Saturday: sis and I are going to visit our parents. First time the four of us been together without anyone else is over 25 years. Nothing earth shattering, we know the sand is running out. Thinking about Bryan [thanks MB].
Sunday: Church on line...relaxing .. prob NOT seeing anything more than a score for Tampa.

Tonight: just got done with our son’s Halloween night at school. Wife and I worked the cafeteria ticket booth. Son ran around like a goof. Picking up a pizza for the fam. Sitting in the parking lot

Sat: boys day til 3 - moms working. Who knows, park, etc. then trick or treating with the rest of the in-laws crew (up to 16 kids and adults this year!) I’m gonna be the big yellow chicken again. Also f this non-Halloween trick or treating crap

Sun: moms working again so more boys time - really looking forward to getting some good bonding in this weekend. Probably do some character building exercise I.e. watch the Bucs game with me

I got my hair cut for the first time in 18 months.

Buyers remorse :(

(Though I actually do look a bit more professional now, I just need to shave more than once a month)

j/k

My townhouse complex is small and off the beaten track. In the 12 years I've lived there, I have yet to see a single Trick or Treater. Still, I used to buy a couple of bags just in case. Always ended up bringing them into work the next day and setting them out on a breakroom table. So, not buying anymore. I've given up on the idea.

Unfortunately, this is basically my approach this year. Everyone in Tallahassee comes to my neighborhood, there will be cars parked all along the streets and the cops block off most streets to cars. Two years ago I bought 2 bags, not knowing what to expect. It was gone in about 30 minutes and they started coming super early, like 5:30 or 5:45. I went out that night and got two more bags, which seemed to disappear instantly.

There were a few cool kids here and there. There was a Batman that used his Batman voice to say "trick or treat." But then there were the kids that grabbed a handful or asked to take more than one and the teens that didn't even have costumes on. I didn't really enjoy it, so I'm not doing it again.

I live on a dead end street in the middle of farm country and all my neighbors are older. I'd be surprised if I got a treater.

I’m in one of those neighborhoods where parents from all over come and drop their kids off. Houses are fairly close together, good lighting, no main roads only residential ... one way in / one way out, etc

New town, similar neighborhood, curious what we're going to get. Not many kids that I've seen so far ...

4 bags ~$12

We'll see.

I used to take my granddaughter to a neighborhood like you described. The neighborhood was mobbed every Halloween. I will say this, many of the homeowners were great about it and really fixed their places up for Halloween. It was cool.

The bottom center of this pic was the main "zone" for trick or treaters. At the center were a lot of businesses with lots of available free parking after 5 PM.
