I would rather walk to Europe than ride in one of those over there.

Inverse topic (inspired by the Kitty Hawk comment):

Shortest flight ever?

Bora Bora to Taha'a. I timed it at 9 minutes wheels up to wheels down. Gate to gate still stayed under 15 minutes, easy.

Exerpt from article above
JetBlue is retrofitting some of its Airbus A320s, taking them from 150 seats to 162. American Airlines, the world's largest carrier, is bumping jets that had 181 or 187 seats up to 190, and jets with 160 seats up to 172.

Which came out after a couple of seat manufacturers started retooling under direction (not documented) from two different airliner

The “pitch” of the Skyrider seats — the distance between the back of one and the back of the one in front of it — is just 23 inches, reports CNET. The pitch on most commercial economy flights is currently between 28 to 31 inches.

Those look bad, but I wonder if they're worse than the seating on my C130 flight from Marseille to Rota? This is very similar to the seating on that flight...

They gave us these wads of wax to cram in our ears to drown out the sound of the engines. No food or drinks either. Nope, not much fun at all. Fortunately, it was only for about a 4 hour flight (not counting the nearly 1 hour spent sitting on the ground before taking off or the nearly 1 hour spent waiting to deplane). I'd take coach on a commercial airline any day of the week over that crap.

Well... if we’re counting military flights, I got you fuckers beat hands down. Norfolk to Sigonella by C-130. Part 1, fly to Brunswick. 5ish hours. Part 2, fly to the Azores, 12.5 hours. Part 3, land in Sicily, 10 hours. Absolutely brutal.

I too, have been to the Azores via C-130.

Ramstein to an overnigher at Lajes Field and then to Dover AFB, Delaware.

The trip back was brutal. You'd think a C-5 would have all sorts of room. Wrong. 80 people smashed into a rear facing box with no windows under the tail from Dover back to Ramstein. Some 3 year old couldn't pressurize his ears and screamed the whole way there.

At least on the 130, you could get up and walk around.

I wish. We had all our personal gear, as well as everything it takes for a detachment of 44 people to keep two planes flying for six months away from base.

The trip home wasn’t as bad. Plane broke, so we got two days to explore. Best damned seafood I’ve ever eaten, and the views were remarkable to jaw-dropping.

Yup. The sunset and following dawn I remember were just epic.

I also remember finding the enlisted club and seeing a small crowd of horrendously bored people. I hear Diego Garcia is similarly dull.

Tampa to Bangkok, 24 hrs with stops in Detroit and Tokyo. Did it four times.

Yes there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on
