All I know is he used an angle grinder. I can find out more if you want.

Since I don't know what an angle grinder is, I doubt there's much point in bothering him.

You all are inspiring me. We have a nice set of Lodge stuff: a Dutch oven, a few different pans, and a skillet, I think, but I have not used them in years. I'm talking probably over 10 years. I might have to dig them out.

Just got off the book of faces with my cousin. She's mailing me Grannie's old skillet and two boxes of her recipe cards. That skillet is probably 105 years old or better. :drinkingcheers:

Tell me about it! Afraid to change it up unless things start going south. Whatever though. It's a fun ride and I'm enjoying it in my own way. Sorry if people are too soft and fragile to deal with Bootz.

You know what happens, Nano, when you use tiny writing and force Bootz to zoom in? You know what happens?

You know what happens when you zoom in when simply quoting the post would have allowed you to read it??

I'm going to get a cast iron skillet today. My dad has been trying to convince me for years and Rocker (along with this thread) pushed me over the edge.

I've just been hesitant b/c it seems like alot of maintenance for a cooking dish (cleaning/oiling).

I'll provide an update on Monday

I've been using mine since I bought it about a month ago. I've just been cleaning it wrong. Now that I know, I will be remedying that situation.

And here I am just amazed that people can go so long in life without the joys of a cast iron skillet.

STOP!

Do not go out and buy a brand new skillet. Lower quality iron.

Go find an old one at a thrift shop or garage sale. Steal it off the wall of a Cracker Barrel if you have to.
