Conflating glorious breasts with boiled peanuts is a crime against humanity and you should feel ashamed of yourself.

Never heard of boiled peanuts before I moved from NY to FL. I agree, make mine spicy cajun. Love 'em

They are also somewhat popular in Hawaii, though not as much as the south.

I also used to like those ground meat stuffed potato balls, first saw them in FL.

They are OK, didn't hate them. My husband loves them, but I hate the after effects. :fart:

Those are Puerto Rican Papas Rellenas. Delicious.

As far as boiled peanuts go, I grew up on them - cajun style all the way.

Other than fair/carnival type places, where else do you get them? I've only ever seen/had them from the aforementioned places.

even most of those are bad, but yeah, you have to go some place that has full kettles cooking constantly.

theres a produce stand right by here

301 FL 60 West, Plant City, FL 33567....about a block west of that on hgwy 60

the produce stand sucks, but they are the measuring stick for true boiled pnuts.

You know I forgot about them. I looked into them when I lived in HI and they didn't deliver there, but now that I am back on the mainland I might just give them a try.

It's certainly expensive for Cuban food. But I will say the food is good there and it's always busy so I can't blame them.

Only hush puppies I've ever liked are these sweet corn hush puppies sold at Winn Dixie, you'll find them in a red bag, can't remember the brand, in the freezer with the fish. Any other hush puppy I've had has been a bone dry bread ball that if I didn't know any better was given to me to ****ing choke me to death. Had grits this morning, both together, never heard of that.

Neither of those places are considered the South, that's why.

edit: Speaking of this. "Southerners" are really particular about who gets to be from the South. It's pretty unanimous that Florida isn't, most don't think Virginia is, especially Northern Virginia. Many don't claim Texas either. It's normally;

The undeniable "southern" or deep south states are Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, South Carolina, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Most include Tennessee and Kentucky....less consider Missouri and North Carolina and to be fair...Asheville and the Triangle aren't southern at all... but it's strange which states are included and which aren't.

Ya, me neither, but I've heard people make an argument.

For me it's Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, South Carolina, Mississippi,Kentucky, Tennessee, and Louisiana.

edit: I meant to say less consider Missouri, I changed it.

It occurs to me that if you want to wave a flag to get under the skin of northerners without all that racial connotation, you should just wave a flag that says "Boiled peanuts sold here".

Also, can we talk about pronounciation? You know you're getting good ones when the person selling them refers to them as bolled peanuts.

Can I get those on the same plate?

As far as VA not being the south... I'm pretty sure as you drive south on 95 from civilization, when to tmget to the VA border there is an ENORMOUS confederate flag to greet you. That is very south.

And the popular tale is that Florida isn't the south, but the people that tell that tale have clearly never left the city limits or Orlando or Miami. ****, my in laws used to have a house in Kissimmee, and making the drive from the house to Wide World of Sports complex for training camp was south as hell.

For Va, you are right .. I grew up in the Tidewater area, in a very agricultural and rural environment. It's pretty "southern". I went to school in the Shenendoah Mountains, and most of that part of the state and everything west of I-64 is pretty hilly and would consider more "back roads" that country. I spent 9 years in Springfield, and there is NOTHING southern about any of that area.

As for Florida ... it's more based on who you are around, than where you are ..

You left out Florigia - the region that lies between the GA line and FL State Road 40...
