I had considered that one but I always felt it was better remembered for its cultural impact rather than as a movie itself. It had A+ impact on the world no differently than say a Star Wars despite the fact I'd rate it at as about a 83% movie with 100% being the best possible score for. But seeing someone else mention it really makes me think I need to reconsider.

Just makes you realize how everything Spielberg made for about 25 years was pure fire. From Jaws, Close Encounters, ET, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, Raiders Of The Lost Ark to The Color Purple. It's such an amazing body of work.

I think you seriously underrate how good a movie Jaws was.

I do underrate it but I think that's due to the fact that I have an unreasonably high standard

Logan. Can't believe it took me this long to go see it, but Damn. Definitely the best movie I've seen in a while.

Asian zombie flick (WARNING-SUBTITLES)...

It was actually pretty good, easily held my attention, the action scenes were well done and it wasn't campy, at all, imo..

Definitely had a Dawn of the Dead vibe/similarity to it..

But it was SO much better than most of the crap "horror" I've watched over the past few months..

Just watched Train after reading this a few weeks ago. Damn good film. I'm not one to be bothered by subtitles, so if you are, then it might not be for you, but it was really well done.

Yep. It was so different from GotG1 that I don't think the two can really be compared, but Marvel is on roll now. They've nailed 10 of the last 12 movies (excluding IM3 and Thor: Dark World). It's ridiculous.

Every time I doubt them they come through so I think Homecoming will turn out well. The wild card is Sony's involvement, but I'm hoping Marvel's presence nullifies Sony.

Dark World is perfect for at home prep watching. I'd give it a C personally. Not bad, but meh. Ragnarok looks like the Thor movie fans have wanted for years.

Although not what I thought it was going to be Alien Covenant is a pretty good movie. Beginning is a little slow but it ends with some good special effects and action scenes. I was expecting it to be more of a horror movie like the original, but to me it was more of an action movie. And there are some parts you won't understand if you haven't seem Prometheus.

Of course. Evidenced by them creating their own universe. D.C. had their run though. Super man and Batman used to be the only comic movies around for a long time.

Absolutely. Everything DC is doing is trying to copy or catch up to Marvel. That's also why they keep screwing the pooch on these films as well.

Such a shame not to see the full arc of the character, but obviously even more of a shame to lose such a young talent.

Agreed dude. I went back and watched it again recently to see if I just had bro colored glasses when I originally watched it 5 or 6 times when it came out ... And damn it was still freaking amazing. Everything about the role. Just masterful.

Also, if I haven't said it before +1 for your name (although I'd consider TDAGARIM my favorite) :drinkingcheers:

Haha thanks. TDAGARIM is definitely my favorite and a top three all time album for me, but Deja seemed fitting for a message board name. I may have to use TDAGARIM some day though just for the confusion it'd cause for people trying to figure it out.

I actually named one of my cats Deja -- if it was a boy it would have been Luca. The other is Chino after Chino Moreno.

Watched 2 movies recently

1. Rogue One -- I'm incredibly late to the party on this one -- pretty good. Certainly better than I expected. Glad Star Wars seems to have gotten back to its roots.

2. War on Everyone -- found it really entertaining and funny

Watched John Wick 2 Friday night. Same as the first, so if you liked that one you'll like this one.

Went to see Wonder Woman Saturday, it was as good as advertised.

Saw 'Get Out' today. Good acting and somewhat suspensful. But also too hokey.

It did suck. You cared about zero of the characters, none of them had any type of personality that separated them from one another. I mean maybe Danny McBride did, but I think that can be attributed to him being a comedian in a serious role.

The way it was filmed really didn't leave for any suspense.

Amy Seimetz was in it though and I was really excited to see her in a blockbuster as I went to high school with her. She had a pretty good role in season 3 of the Killing and I thought she was going to turn out to be a Paul Reiser type of character in Aliens when **** started going down, but no.

Extremely disappointed in this movie.

Thirded. It was derivative and boring. The CGI aliens are nowhere near as scary as they were when they were practical effects. The messages about Christianity were as subtle as a sledgehammer. That didn't bother me for personal reasons. It was just all very obvious and dull.

I could maybe forgive most of that. But to wait 30 years to find out that the aliens came from
Spoiler:
a mad scientist plot from a 50s movie
was a major let down. I would have enjoyed almost any other explanation more. Or NO explanation It just felt lazy.

I have very modest hopes for the "final" part of the trilogy, which should hopefully tie in a bunch of stuff between these movies and "Alien."

Watched Prometheus and Fury road same night.

Prometheus was disappointing. And why did they even bother to cast Charlize Theron in a throwaway role like that?

Fury road? Holy crap what a horrible movie.
