Just watched "Miss Sloane". Lotta you gun nuts will hate it, but it's a fascinating inside look on the life of a female lobbyists and the film certainly benefits from an oscar worthy Jessica Chastain performance. Kinda feels like one of those John La Carre adaptations if you're into that- very smart, with lots of great twists and turns.

Watching "For the love of Spock" on Netflix.

Absolutely fantastic. A must see for any Trekker. Lovely memorial to Leonard Nimoy and directed by his son.

The infiltrator was a pretty good movie. Kind of cool seeing a few places I recognized like the 2001 Odyssey. ;)

Wife and I watched 2 new(er) ones last night...

First up was "Nocturnal Animals"...we both liked it..kind of weird..very intense..ending left both of us a little peeved, but overall a good movie..damn good acting..

Next we watched "Deep Water Horizon"..I'm a sucker for those real life drama stories...especially ones that revolve around roughneck laborers (Dad's a coal miner)..good movie..Marky Mark kept the Wife engaged/interested enough..

Me and my girls have watched a bunch of movies during the Christmas hiatus. Some I watched just with my daughter, some with just my granddaughter and some with both.

I'm probably forgetting a couple, but, in no particular order...

Lost in Space (still fun)
The Legend of Tarzan (good, not great)
Don't Breathe (good suspense)
Brooklyn (surprisingly good)
The Revenant (finally - loved it)
Forrest Gump (1st time I've watched it since it 1st came out)
Wildcats (I had never seen the unedited version before)
Elf (can't be Christmas without Elf)
Mary Poppins (still love this movie no matter how many times I've seen it)
A Christmas Carol (Disney)
Dead Poets Society (can't believe I never watched this before now)
Magnificent Seven (better than I expected)
Bad Moms (silly fun)
Hell or High Water (kinda Thelma & Louise'ish...still good though)

Still on our list...
Sully
Snowden
Finding Dory

It wasn't on our list, but we watched Everest last night because it was free. Pretty intense and sad at the same time.

Passengers.

Pleasantly surprised. I knew going in that it was going to be more romance than Sci-fi, but what I didn't know was only one was mistakenly woken up first and the movie became a Castaway and what would you do Scenerio for the first half.

Made the movie ten times better in my opinion.

We took the kids to see Sing...it was a pretty good family movie. I mean, predictable sure but it's a kids movie and the singing/music was actually pretty good.

Manchester by the Sea. Should be under considerstion for best picture, screenplay and actor at least. Powerful, well-crafted stuff.

I was bothered a bit by the characters doing space walks off a ship traveling at 50 percent the speed of light. But maybe this wouldn't be an issue? Been awhile since my last physics class.

Saw a couple of good ones recently...and a bomb...

"Fences"..the acting was superb..Denzel is simply the best, probably my favorite actor as he can play any role...the story was hard and heartfelt too..the Wife loved this one..

"Girl on a Train"..same author as Gone Girl, I think? Solid movie..plot is a little reachy, but if you just allow yourself to fall into it, it's believable...and while the twist is cliche, it's done in a way where it feels sincere and new..

"The Monster"...came from the folks whom made The Strangers so I was pumped...annnnnd it sucked...pretty bad..it had the opportunity to be be decent, but then went downhill real damn fast..

Hidden Figures

Really well acted and great true story of the group that starTed the space program. I'm not really sure why this story has not been taught or told until now.

Costner, Parsons, and Spencer all were excellent. Our family really were encouraged after the movie

Highly recommend seeing this

Not much of a fiction guy except for some comedies. I watched the documentary Inside Job on a plane ride last week. Great doc. It's maddening. Everyone NEEDS to watch this doc.

Watched a bunch more (can you tell my family has the flu)...

The Autopsy of Jane Doe...some gross **** here...premise had promise, but under delivered in the end..but it was definitely gory enough..

Shellie (sp)..was supposed to be a foreign "Rosemary's Baby"..it was stupid as ****..

Jeepers Creepers 2..hahaha....popcorn horror flick..kept us entertained enough...nowhere near as good as the first one..

Deadly Blessing...1981 Wes Craven flick that scared me shitless when I was a kid..rewatching it now I felt like slapping myself for ever being scared because of it AND for watching it again..BUT it's not a well known Craven flick, so for those whom like to see "everything" (as I do), here you go..
