So Moonlight won Best Picture. I'll have to check that out when it hits PPV. Of the 9 films nominated, I have only seen Hell or High Water, Arrival and Hacksaw Ridge. I definitely want to see Hidden Figures and maybe, Manchester by the Sea. The others (Lion, La La Land and Fences)...meh.

I really enjoyed it. Very weird and creepy and funny, with quite a few jump moments.

If the trailer intrigues you, then check it out.

I saw it yesterday. It was okay. Left more questions than answers for me.

I'm curious what questions it left you with. I guess use the spoiler tag if it's plot/ending related.

The last "scary movie" I saw that I enjoyed was The Conjuring. I didn't think it was fantastic but I appreciated how the attention to detail was used to make it an actually gripping story. The idea of hearing three knocks, a foul odor, the clocks stopping in the middle of the night and something scaring the **** out of children every night is more than you get compared to a movie where the main characters just record their "grandparents" acting weird the whole time.

The conjuring 2 was the last good horror movies. Recently horror movies like Get Out and don't breath are mehhhh

Can't wait for the conjuring 3

They may be good, but the premise of those films do nothing to make me want to see them. Denzel Washington is the only reason I might reconsider watching Fences.
Lion sounds like Slumdog Millionaire with some white people in it.

Agreed.

Good. ****ing. God. I would not recommend Manchester by the Sea. Absolutely the most depressing movie I've seen in years. Casey Affleck was phenomenal, but god damn, the story (and especially as somebody who has recently become a father) made me want to throw up.

I remember seeing Mothra vs Godzilla at the theater when I was around 7-8 years old. Seeing those monsters on those big screens back then was pretty awesome. The sound when Godzilla roared would lift you right out of your seat.

Kong - Great take on an old "classic"! The special effects and action were awesome. Samuel L needs to retire all his characters are the same now.

Logan - Jackman is incredible as Old Man Logan and Stewart is equally great as an aging Professor X. Dafne Keen steals the show as the new Wolverine. Not the best X-men movie, but definitely not the worst.

OJ: Made in America

This was one EXCELLENT movie/documentary! I easily see why/how it won an Oscar!

Oj Simpson is a very complex dude. And that is a gross understatement. There are so much that you learn from watching this. If you guys have not seen it yet; I highly recommend that you do.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the soundtrack as well. You're absolutely right about Mr. Jackson though.

Watched "Patriots Day" last night..

Good, solid flick..

Made the wife tear up a good bit too..

The only thing I didn't like about it was when Wahlberg's character started spouting off about "love conquers all" BS...

i was really looking forward to Godzilla and was very disappointed. Godzilla's roar is iconic and I only remember hearing it once or twice in the whole friggin movie. Hopefully the new one will be better.

saw Fences - pretty good - tough

but what really shocked me was Arrival. I'm a huge sci fi fan and I gotta admit I was relatively lukewarm on this one going in... expected Close Encounters v2... but I was completely blown away. I mean even my wife, who HATES sci fi movies was crying and said she loved it. I've seen basically all the oscar noms (except La La Land) now, and I'd rank them:

1. Arrival
2. Hacksaw Ridge close behind
3. Moonlight
4. Fences
5. Manchester by the Sea

Watched "Train to Busan" last night..

Asian zombie flick (WARNING-SUBTITLES)...

It was actually pretty good, easily held my attention, the action scenes were well done and it wasn't campy, at all, imo..

Definitely had a Dawn of the Dead vibe/similarity to it..

But it was SO much better than most of the crap "horror" I've watched over the past few months..
