Hey RBF, I have a question for you. How many grams of protein are you able to get in on the average day? Not a loaded question at all. I am honestly curious. I try to keep my protein intake around 150 grams a day. Would that be possible on the vegan diet without going crazy with soy?

Firstly I'd say there is zero reason to worry about soy. Personally I aim for about 160 a day and have little trouble getting it. I could even get in more, though I find I get super gassy if I go over 160 (this was the case pre-vegan eating as well)

real bucs fan wrote:The whole natural herbivore/carnivore/omnivore debate isn't the point here. I only reiterated the non-bias opinion of an archeological scientist who isn't vegan that wasn't even talking about veganism. She was talking about how off the idea of what our ancestors ate was in terms of mainstream perception, and that our genetic adaptations are for plant consumption. Pirate Life was dead on about the fact our diet consisted mostly of insects when it came to our animal protein intake, (and this was covered in the video I shared). If you want to eat as our ancestors did, go eat some bugs. I do definitely disagree with a couple of his points, but I don't want to get bogged down into that discussion though as it isn't what I'm trying to discuss.

What I'm trying to talk about here, is how we as a species should eat moving forward. That's what matters.

The problem with her talk is that what she is talking about is our ancestors that were an entirely different species (realistically not even the same genus). Homo Sapiens came about roughly 320,000 years ago, as mentioned previously our ancestors started consuming meat regularly roughly 2.9 million years ago. While we share genetic make up with those ancestors, we have evolved beyond that - many times over. We're talking about ancestors that predate Homo Habilis, currently thought to be the first of the Genus Homo and we're a few rungs up the evolutionary ladder from them. It's like saying chickens are predators because their ancestors are Tyrannosaurs (chickens and t. rex share a ton of DNA)

Like I said in my post, no issues with wanting to steer folks into a vegan/vegetarian diet, but claiming we are built to be herbivores because our ancestors that far back were genetically programmed to be such is not valid once you look at the facts.

To each their own. It ain’t for me.

Then again, I *might* tip the scales at 160 soaking wet with a fur coat on.

It appears you lean towards the plus size section. Women can have curves and not be overweight, but to each their own.
