Hit55 wrote:Same here. I had to call into work today because on the way home last night, my Prius finally decided it wanted to show it's age. While stuck in stop and go traffic, all the lights on my dash lit up like a Christmas tree. The master warning, the check engine, VSC, hybrid system warning, etc. I pulled off onto the shoulder as it was decelerating and looked over my manual with the hazard lights on.

About 15 seconds in, my car shuts down. I hop out and jump start the 12V in the trunk, and all the lights but the master warning, check engine and hybrid system warning are now gone. I B-Line it home without a problem. I came out early this morning to check on it, and the hybrid system warning light is no longer showing but the check engine and master warning are. I decide to take it to Toyota and as the guy turns the car on, all the lights are no longer displaying. I'm still allowing for the diagnostic to happen since I would like to know what caused it to begin with. Plus, it's way overdue for its 5,000 mile servicing. I'm hoping it's simply a matter of needing to change the dying 12-volt. Either way, not a fun start to my birthday.

Sorry Zarni. Not to derail you there. What happened?

I have an 2008 Prius too. Sort of sounded like an issue I have where, about once a month, turn on the car, and other than the "entertainment dash", the rest of the display is completely blank. Can't tell how fast you're going, how much gas you have, etc. You can't even turn the car off as you normally would.

Looked it up...bad soldering and the dealer wants $900 plus to fix. I'm thinking to myself, "Why would I pay $1K for something that happens about 1/month especially when the car is maybe worth $4k?!?!?"

So I took my daughter to her first stadium sporting experience last night ... the Supercross event in Cowboys stadium.

We had an absolute blast....life doesn't get better.

Anyway, watch the first 30 seconds of the finals of the small bikes (250cc). Luckily no one was seriously injured...one guy broke his wrist but everyone else eventually got back up and got back into the race

Darn it...they took down the video

Here is another look at it...until I'm sure it is removed as well

I hope you intend to make the monocle work instead.

edit: I'm mad we let a peanut ruin such a classic look.

If it makes you feel any better, there's a generation of males who wear fake glasses because they like the look. :D

I get where your mind is going...

If it weren't for that damn peanut you'd be teaching a class with a top hat, cane, and monocle tomorrow. Instead you have to sport granny library glasses with a chain, a walker, and a sombrero....not a good look.

Found at any CVS, Walgreens, etc

Fits in your pocket, I lay mine on top of my wallet, and have a backup in my backpack when I travel.

When I am home, I have two pair of standard glasses with more firm frames.

Ha!

I go in a couple months for my check up so I’m sure I’ll get the complete scoop.

I normally wear contact lenses as I do so much sporting stuff that doesn’t lend itself to normal glasses but I will wear my glasses at night. Lately for reading I’ve had to take them off....which instigated me go get reading glasses. I started with a weak correction - I think I bought the 1.25 ones.

I was j/k. I have needed glasses for distance since I was in my early 20's. The close up vision issues started much later. Around my late 40's and I started the same way...buying weak and cheap drug store reading glasses. I now do the progressive lens route. That's much better than constantly having to change out glasses every time the distance of what I want to look at changes.

I wear contacts, too. And over the past ~9 months I've noticed that reading / looking at my phone with the contacts in was getting tough. With my glasses on, I could just flip the glasses up and I was good. Can't just flip contacts up.

At my last eye exam, I mentioned it. The doctor gave me some multifocal contacts to try out. They told me they take time to get used to and for my eyes to adjust. Had them about a week. The near sight got a little better. But the distance was so much worse. And that, for me, was a problem. They gave me a different type of multifocal lens to try out, same thing.

Hopefully you'll have better luck at your appointment. But in the meantime, I've been avoiding getting the drugstore reading glasses. But it's getting tough when I go out to dinner seeing the menu. And I refuse to use my phone flashlight.

As far as your cane goes, what about this:

I'm getting there, too. I'm at the stage where when I have to read fine print I start with it in front of my face and slowly move it away until my eyes can focus on it. A few times I ran out of arm.

I think I just need something for reading because the rest of the time I'm fine. I foresee those drugstore readers in my future as soon as my bruised ego will allow it.

LOW life come to my rescue!!!! I’m racking my brain here and it’s frustrating as all get up. I’m trying to remember the name of the 1980s candy bar that was twisted caramel and chocolate. I found the British version called a curly wurly

HELP!!!!

Yes!!! Marathon. I knew I could count on The LOW Crew

I do seem to be obsessed with them MB. I had a bunch of people over for dinner and drinks and one of their kids pulled out a Mallow candy. It got us talking about candy in our day. And once I get thinking of something, it drives me crazy till I figure it out! I can be a bit anal (understatement of the year!!)
