Why is the letter C afraid of the rest of the alphabet?

He should lose that battle 14 times out of 10. I am presuming much beer was involved.

so yesterday night my daughter's from friend down the street came over and i was embarrassing my daughter (like all good dads do) by singing and dancing to 80's stuff......I had just heard the song Cars on the radio so I started with that.

today i was messing around youtube on some of the links that popped up....I had no idea Gary Numan was still making music...i must say i kind of like it. (I knew he hung out with NIN and would play with them every so often but didn't realize he did his own stuff)

Edit -- apparently that is his daughter singing background vocals on it (and in the video) -- how cool is that for the kid?

Taking my crew to New Orleans this weekend. Hotel proces are stupid in that town and the Saints are on the road. $350 a night? Really? I can get a far better deal in Seattle or DC.

Air Bnb isn't any better.

I did a consulting project with a retired guy who wrote dynamic pricing software for the airlines. One of the smartest guys I have ever met. I'm pretty good with math, but after about 15 minutes of listening to him talk about it, I was left behind on the mechanics of it.

He started writing his stuff right after airline deregulation (thank you Reagan!)....and now dynamic pricing is pervasive.

Yep, price is the ultimate signal in a free market economy. And that's beautiful...it's the most efficient signal to companies to make shifts in their supply capacities.

In most cases you are correct, but I contend the consumer is in many ways at a disadvantage. Particularly when you have as many M&As as we have had in the last 10 years. You could make arguments that some sectors have Cartel like controls to set retail pricing.

And in the case of your trip to see New Orleans you really only have 4 options.
1 - Pay those high hotel prices
2 - Stay in a flea bag hotel in a neighborhood so bad you're afraid to walk to and from your room to your car
3 - Go somewhere else for vacation instead
4 - Stay home, fire up the BBQ and play Trivial Pursuit: The New Orleans Edition

Option five. Grab a reasonably priced hotel on the other side of Lake Pontchartrain or near the airport.
