And I'm drinking my new, favorite drink.

VOODOO SOUR

1 oz. Spiced rum
1 oz. Bourbon
1 oz. Lemon juice
1 oz. Simple syrup
2 dashes bitters

Over ice.

If you don't like sours, stay away. It is sour.

I do the first recipe, but skip the club soda.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's something different. I think that's where you actually consume the alcohol through the vapor. What I'm talking about is just filling the glass with smoke right before putting the drink in it. I think it's cherry wood or something.

The rest of your post after the first sentence is probably true, and there's a similar thing in cooking, but it was a cool presentation for sure.

Perhaps.

We call it "vaping".

We also drop dry ice into **** for the effect.

There are all kinds of "smoke" that can be "vaped" into cocktails. Again...cool effect. As far as flavor profile goes? Minimal. At best. And it's usually on the first sip, which is ironic, considering the first sip gives you your heaviest "alcohol" hit. Thus, mitigating the "smell".

If you want a show and ****...hit up a bar that takes 10 minutes to make a drink. Hell...when my girl and I want to go out, dress up and act all "classy" and ****...we do them. I'll order a Clover Club or some other flip...watch the "mixologist" crack ice from a bigger block of ice, dry shake the sumbitch...and live it up. Y'all know I like to keep it classy...

As far as your Old Fashioned goes...there are many ways to make it. Depends on who you ask and who is making it.

At work, I make it like they want me to make it:

Muddle a marischino cherry and orange slice with .5 oz. of simple syrup.
1.25 oz Bourbon
1 dash bitters
Top with club soda

This is the "Old Fashioned" most people get. Pretty standard.

My Old Fashioned is the most "original" recipe I could find. I'm a bourbon lover so I like this one better.

Put a sugar cube in the glass. 4-6 dashes of (orange) bitters. Muddle.
1.5 oz. Bourbon

I do a thick slice of orange peel, torch it with a lighter and toss it in the drink.

No soda water. No cherry. Those are fairly recent additions to the drink. And I hate cherries. Unless I'm behind the bar and hungry.

Point is, if you order one in a bar, you're gonna get it the way they make it. If you like it a certain way...say something or you're at my mercy.

At home, I do the first recipe, but skip the club soda.

Let's see.

I have 4 Fat Tire's left and a half bottle of this stuff
Image

Not a bourbon by any stretch, but it's pretty tasty. I'll get another bottle of it when the weather is colder.

Feeling like a porter or stout tonight. Something with some body to it.

I love Vida. Although she might be responsible for this epidemic of fake butts as women try to get what she was blessed with naturally.

You put it away until one of two things happens.

1. You hang out with old friends and forget you're an adult.

2. You're having a big party and want to make jungle juice/hunch punch/insertshittystrongmixturehere

Was thinking of distilled spirits.

Not sure I've seen either of those beers before.

Ripper is great between glasses of bourbon.

Allegedly.

Hi-Wire is based out of Asheville, NC. Not sure how far they distribute, but their Hefeweizen was legitimately the best beer I’ve ever had.
