There's a Kentucky bourbon ale out there that's pretty damned good.

The price is the part I hate, but I'm a cheap ass.

It's damn good if you've got the patience to age it.

Agreed. I actually find myself craving the citrus stuff lately. Good change of pace and great for the summer. Especially the IPAs. I'll have to check out that hef, though.

I've been rocking the gose and sours lately. Didn't care for the gose at first; now I can't get enough.

Slippery slope, my friend. Stay away from the barrel aged sours if you want to remain friendly with your wallet.

Bought whiskey tonight so I'm doing cheap chasers.

The long forgotten Michelob Light.

I don't know why anyone would drink Ultra over this. If you're that bent out of shape about carbs you shouldn't drink beer anyway.

Doctor said no more carbs for me and while I have cut almost all out, I reserve all my carb intake to beer related activities.....

Can't compromise there

I love sours.

D9
BFS project (Birds Fly South)
Wicked Weed

are my top 3 for sours. I try to buy a few sours a week and at least put them in my beer closet.

I've been on a big chile kick. I've drank some of my Westbrook Mexican Cakes from years past and a few Prarie Bombs/Birthday Bombs.

Goses are my favorite beer when I'm on the boat:

Anderson Valley Blood Orange
Captain Lawrence Tropigose
The Unknown Brweing Company Bright Ass Tank Top
Westbrook Keylime Gose
Two Evil: Geyser Gose

are some of my favorites. If you are untapped PM me and I'll add you. It's a great way to see what's going on in the beer world.

edit: I've repeated myself a bit on the sour post I guess...that's what happens when you drink a lot, but I'll keep this up there for you.

There's a cigar bar in New Haven. It's pretty much exactly halfway between me and my college roommate. We meet there once or twice a year. Amazing place. Cigars, coffee, full liquor bar with nice whiskey selection, decent beer selection with a couple taps. Live music at night. When we go, it's an all day thing - get there before noon, leave around 9, wander around town a little in between. Our long-standing tradition is the first drink is always a Boddingtons. It's light enough that it's just fine for 11am when it's going to be a long day.

When I lived in the UK, it was one of my least favorite bitters.

But its the only one I can get here....so I'm stuck with it. I've grown to like it more (through no choice) but its just quite mild compared to stuff like Green King...heck even John Smith and Tetley has a stronger aftertaste.

I wonder if it simply doesn't travel well...because with the growth of craft beers, you would think someone would import a good bitter from the UK

Yeah, you're right. But with the limited beer selection at this place, that beer fits the bill best for something to have early.

Zarni, can you get a Murphy's Irish Stout? That might suit you a little better.

Yes, i have a slew of Irish pubs in the DFW Metroplex...I can get Murphy's and Guinness on tap without having to drive too far.

My favorite stout was Beamish until they quite making it. Have toured all 3 breweries and always preferred Beamish as it had the least amount of toasted coffee taste

As far as Bitters, Boddington's is the only one I can get on tap. the only other thing remotely close is Wexler's Irish Cream Ale, which they serve at a soccer pub I go to (Londoner)

There are lots of bottled ESB's (e.g. Fuller's) and IPA's at the liquor stores around here, but I never liked them very much. They aren't nearly as creamy as the cask ales.
