My girl and I watched Venom last weekend.

Meh

I have no clue, why Venom likes Eddie. The only thing in common is...

they are both losers

Marvel is getting a bit like Star Wars. Too many films, too often.

What a crap trailer. They should have waited until they had some better footage to work with. Then again, since we all know there are no real stakes, I don't blame them. It's tough to ratchet up tension when your film simply exists to undo the last film, which you also insisted had tension.

Good teaser trailer. Love seeing Ronan! Curious how Ant Man got out of the Quantum realm.

As someone who's never touched a comic book, I couldn't be more excited about this movie. It's incredible that they've put this thing together over so many years. So many movies, and there are no real stinkers. They've left us on the edge of our seats for an entire year.

I think the failure of the DC comics adaptation shows just how hard something like this is.

In non-Marvel news, the new Hellboy looks good. David Harbour was a great pick. It seems to have the dark comic humor down too.

Spider-Man into the Spiderverse is surprisingly awesome. Wasn’t expecting much, but it’s one of the best superhero films this year.

Fixed because Tom Holland is still awesome. The studio did an amazing job with this animated Spider-Man. There are serious talks that it should be in the running for Best Picture.

With all the makeup & CGI, they could have stuck with Pearlman.

Aquaman was a blast. Not a perfect movie, but i think DC has found it’s footing. We laughed and were engaged during the entire film.

I'm glad to hear this. I have this fear it's bad. I don't expect a lot (its DC) and have this being the last call to see if they can play with the big boys.

I hope to go next week with my nephew while he's visiting

You’re going to really enjoy it. Of all the DCEU films this one is the most fun. It has an actual storyline and most of the characters are fleshed out well. Aquaman himself is freaking awesome btw. I believe James Wan or Jason Momoa chose to borrow from MCU’s version of Thor. Aquaman isn’t a Thor rip-off, but you see strong similarities in how they play the character and it works beautifully.

That was my biggest fear, yet also get that it's also the storyline and background on Aquaman (yes, I was a kid once, and these things called comics). I'll be in, and I am one of the 12 people on Earth that actually thought Justice League was good.

I enjoyed both DOJ and JL. But I'm also a Batman homer. Thought Affleck was perfect for the older, more cynical & jaded Bruce Wayne / Batman from the books.

I thought JL was “okay” at best, but “meh” is a more accurate description. The direction they took Aquaman is actually a good one. It isn’t a noticeable copy at all. Basically they’ve gone a version of the “serious hero who laughs so he won’t cry” direction that worked so well for Thor. Aquaman comes off as a tough SOB you’d take out for a beer. Imo a very likable and relatable character.

Well done, DCEU.

I loath BvS:DOJ. The writing was poor & the storyline made less and less sense the more I thought about it. Most of all I hate the Superman character from BvS. He is far too emo for my taste. I would have to write a book to describe all the things wrong with BvS. It’s the only DCEU film that I liked less and less the more I thought about the movie. Walking out of the theatre I graded it out around a C-/D+. By the time wifey and I were discussing it (like we do all superhero films) it was an F+.

The film felt like the ideas of 6 different people all rolled into one horrible film experience.

Jesse Eisenberg ruined BvS. Tried way too hard to be like Legder's TDK Joker.

His portrayal of Luther ruined that movie.

To your last point; didn't they go through some directorial and writer changes, like began with Snyder and finished by someone else? Or am I thinking of another shitty DC flick?
