They’re planning on keeping two separate Jokers (Leto & Phoenix). It’s moment like these when I hate DCEU.

Get serious. Carrottop is too muscular for the role.

The Todd Phillips Joker movie is not supposed to be part of the DCEU. But the movie itself is just a terrible idea, one of the great things about the Joker is he doesn't have an origin so the fact they want to do a movie centered around it is just the dumbest thing.

On the big screen movie-wise, DC is a dumpster fire. Just straight dumpster fire.

Also, I still hate the idea of a Venom movie without the symbiote first bonding with Peter Parker/Spidey. That's so dumb. There is no Venom without PP/Spidey. I was not impressed in the least by the teaser trailer. It just feels like it's going to suck. And if it does, it's a shame they can't get Venom right in the movies. He's a beloved character, and tbh, he's quite a simple character, so why Sony can't get him right is beyond me. Heck, just straight follow his origin story from the comics then move on to the Lethal Protector storyline then the Planet of the Symbiotes. Or Maximum Carnage. It's not that hard to do it right.

This is a great video showing why Marvel largely gets their characters right while other studios continue flailing. Seeing the difference between Marvel’s Spider-Man and Sony’s handling of the character is interesting.

Like most I am REALLY looking forward to watching Black Panther this week end.

To me, this is almost as big as the first Transformers movie (from a personal stand point transformers will always have a special place in my heart and I collect vintage figures every chance I get). Sorry about that!

But, this movie seems to be the most anticipated movie event I have seen in a long time (probable ever).

So I was thinking; how much money will this movie make on its opening week end?

My estimate is 200 million domestic and 400 million over seas. Thats a total of 600 million in its first weekend!

What do you guys think?

The opening weekend box office record for a Superhero movie is $152M (Deadpool). That went on the make over $1B worldwide. Black Panther isn’t making $200M on opening weekend or $520M worldwide on opening weekend. That’s just asinine.

I am so excited for Black Panther that I’m seeing the film twice (Thursday and Friday), but even I’m saying you need to calm down.

Prime, my numbers were a bit off ( I was looking at the wrong figures when I did my first estimates).

However, based on the highest weekend numbers, it is not unrealistic that Panther will do 600 million.

Jurassic World did 208.8 mil domestically and Fate of the furious did 443.2 mil overseas in their opening weekends.

Panther has way more EVERYTHING compared to these two, thus it is not far fetched that Panther will exceed 600 mil in its opening week end.

You’re reading something incorrectly. The largest opening weekend ever is Star Wars The Force Awakens coming in at $247M. You’re looking at total gross for the entire cinematic run of a film.

Also I misspoke in my post earlier. Deadpool is the largest opening weekend for a first run Superhero film @ $132M. The Avengers is the largest opening weekend ever for a Superhero film.

Your figures are completely unrealistic.
Check the numbers here:

Prime, his numbers are accurate. I don’t think Black Panther breaks all the records, but I think it will do extremely well, especially domestically.

You and Bahamian are correct. I wasn’t looking at Worldwide.

I would love for BP to go over $500M worldwide opening weekend, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. Now if these new estimates of $150-170M domestically opening weekend are true...you just might turn out more right than wrong.

I don't think it's being hyped world wide like it is here. We will see.

edit: I just read that foreign markets combined are predicted to be around $140 million opening weekend, which is really good for a Superhero movie and could touch $200 million domestic.

Regardless it will still make great money.

It wasn’t groundbreaking in any of those things. It’s an over rated, standard, origin story. It was just well executed.

WW WAS good. By far the best of the DCEU and as good or better than all but the upper tier of MCU.

Black Panther is going to kill it. It's Marvel first and foremost, so it's going to open pretty big. It's probably going to be awesome and it has a lot of hype for having a predominantly black cast.

All of the above. Probably the deepest, most touching back story for a Marvel villian ever aside from Magneto. Each character stood out in a great way and played a key role. If you want specifics go watch it 1st.

This is what I don’t understand. What does the race of the actors have to do with how good a movie is?

Without exaggeration this is Marvel’s best work.

Everything you listed is 5/5. The writing puts this movie on an entirely different level than previous Marvel films. I just spent 2.5 hours sitting with a group talking about the film. I cannot think of a single misstep with this one.

Characters: Fully fleshed our with motivations you understand and empathize with.

Villain: Marvel has never done a better villain. Never. This depth of villain is what they need to reach for every time.

Visuals: Attention to detail is astounding. Certain shots are just designed for an IMAX screen.

Directing: Ryan Coogler should win an award for what he just pulled off. When you sit back to look at what he did on such a large scale it’s astounding. Marvel needs to keep Coogler for as long as he is willing to stay.

My expectations were insanely high and Black Panther blew my expectations completely out of the water.
