SpaceX got involved with The Last Jedi with their latest launch.

Two "Falcons" took flight today (Dec. 15), each lofting "Star Wars" droids on new journeys into space.
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) the same day the Millennium Falcon returned to theaters in the new Lucasfilm movie "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." SpaceX CEO Elon Musk named the real-life rocket after the fictional freighter starship.

But vehicle names are not the only thing that the SpaceX launch and the new "Star Wars" film have in common.

Launching atop the Falcon 9 at 10:36 a.m. EST (1536 GMT) was a SpaceX Dragon uncrewed spacecraft packed with supplies and science experiments for the Expedition 54 crew aboard the International Space Station. The solar-powered cargo capsule is slated to arrive and berth at the orbiting outpost early Sunday morning (Dec. 17).

Also stashed aboard the Dragon are a couple hundred mission patches depicting BB-8 and two other droids from the "Star Wars" franchise. The Millennium Falcon-shaped embroidered badges represent the science for the U.S. National Laboratory that's aboard the space station, as managed by the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS).

Saw it last night - freaking loved it.

Spoiler:
I've gotta share this hilarious Reddit comment I read last night.

So some people were lamenting that Admiral Ackbar just got unceremoniously blown up in the same blast that Leia almost died in - and that he deserved a better sending off - and that instead of the stronk wise purple haired whitewomenz - it should have been Ackbar who stayed back and did the kamakazi warp

Then this guy comes along with the way he'd write it:

What specifically did you hate?

It's okay, you can tell me, I'm a Star Trek guy.

I won't get into spoilers now, not feeling like going too in depth especially considering the movie left a bad taste in my mouth. But I found the movie to be full of unlikeable characters and the ones that I did like from before were made unlikeable. Visually this movie was one of the most stunning I've ever seen, but nearly everything about the plot made me roll my eyes. Even when they started doing something I liked, an unnecessary twist was thrown my way that left me rolling my eyes again. I'm still struggling to figure out why I'm supposed to like Rey and why she's so special. It feels like they just wanted to push the strong female lead thing without actually putting any effort into the character. I didn't really find her all that special in The Force Awakens, but I was willing to wait and see how they expanded upon her back story and her motivations a bit more but this movie just made me dislike her even more. Bleh.

Rouge One was so much better, actually may be 2nd best episode after Empire.

Last Jedi was meh...better than Force Awakens but really not saying much.

I thought it was a fine popcorn movie, great visuals, but the story/dialogue was incredibly lazy and surface level. The Poe Dameron and purple hair lady drama was just pathetic. The Leia thing was so stupid and unnecessary. And like some of the prequels, the expansion of the powers of and attempts to explain the Force are always lame.

He doesn't bother me so much. But the way his character is written is lazy, just like all of them.

I think it's a product of trying to make too many characters "special." In the original trilogy, Luke, Han, and Vader were the only characters that needed a lot of development. Leia, Kenobi, Yoda, the droids, etc... they only mattered in how they related to Luke, Han and Vader. Now, we need to keep developing Luke and Leia, plus Rey, Fin, Poe, purple hair lady, Rose, Kylo et all. All that gets in the way of each other until we get a bunch of soft stereotypes that the weak ass dialogue has to reinforce. How many times does someone have to say 'That Poe Dameron is a trigger happy maverick' before it's too much?

Quote of a lifetime.

That's a good actor .. he went with what was told.. Rank / File ..

It was a good movie, I had no problem with the ending, and think there are great avenues for Episode 9.

People talked about how the bombs can fall out of the sky like that... or what Leah did ..... come folks .

Saw it last night, was meh.

I still think Rogue one shits on it from a great height. Some of the comedy in TLJ was just so forced, like the fake call centre scene...... i mean really???

Movie felt like filler (besides Rey/Luke). Good visuals but felt like a cash grab. No cliffhangers for the next episode? Like bootz said, "it was meh".

Star Wars fanbois are so damned fickle. Giving TLJ a worse score than The Phantom Menace on Rotten Tomatoes?

Child please, it wasn't THAT bad.

Some of you guys are too much. The movie was great. I personally think it is top two. Why do we have to strip it down to such an elemental level to the point we kill it for ourselves and others? Does anyone really think the acting in the original trilogy was epic?? A lot of it was damn near terrible an yet I love them too. I personally saw it twice within two days of each other, both IMAX, and I do not regret spending the money because it was a great movie for me.

All I need is for Disney to give me a Yoda origins story and I'll be in Star Wars heaven....and I am more a Trekkie as is!

100% agree Paco. I've seen it twice in the theater and loved every minute of both viewings. some of ya'll would do yourselves a favor to go back and watch just how terrible some of the acting is and how many "forced jokes" there are in the originals. The one thing the originals have that the new one's don't, is that gritty sloppiness and low-tension scenes that don't really serve any purpose other than to build the atmosphere. Coupled with the lower quality hardware and effects of the time, the original movies with always have that "something" that made them so special (coupled with the feeling of "discovery"), that no modern (particularly Disney-produced) movie could ever reproduce, even if it tried (or even if it wanted, which I don't think they did, anyways).

These are clearly late 2010's movies, just as the prequels are very clearly late 90's/early 2000's movies. Some types of movies from certain times age well, and some don't. But I think these new ones are very good late 2010's sci-fi movies that pay fantastic homage to the original storyline, and carry it into the modern day quite well.

Finally saw it. I liked it, even if
Spoiler:
the entire casino sequence, with it's dumbass aliens and ham-fisted political sloganeering, was right straight out of the prequels.

Here's something silly that bugged me, though. Can anyone explain it?

Spoiler:
So, Laura Dern (the purple haired lady) has already decided to commit suicide by drifting the ship away from the escaping fleet and taking fire. Okay, super. But why is it then played like some epic moment when she decides to warp-speed ram the Empire ship? She had ALREADY decided she'd sacrifice herself.
Seems like she could have warp-speed rammed that ship an hour earlier and saved a lot of folks. Or am I misunderstanding the moment?
