Give me a break... Jimbo and the noles won the orange bowl the year before Jimbo left and were coming off about 5 years straight of 10 wins

The year he left we lost Francois week 1 vs Bama and it imploded into a lame duck year that would see Fisher leave at the end. It was just one cursed year.

Don’t give me this crap about Jimbo stinking it up for years and blowing up the recruiting momentum and leaving some sort of festering dumpster fire. You know who did that? Bowden

Taggart had it tee’d up - we had 1 year of a dip, he had a chance to be the revitalizing force, and he came in and flat blew it

Also, Hallelujah Taggarts outta here

I remember watching Taggart's first game as FSU coach. There were 3-4 really questionable coaching decisions in that game alone. I was really worried but thought he'd turn it around.

Coincidentally, that was one of the last full FSU games I watched.

You are getting a lot of flack, but I think you are absolutely correct. His time at FSU was nowhere near long enough for him to reach his full potential.

If 1 1/2 years was long enough to determine Willie should be fired...then whoever hired him should probably be fired as well. Seriously...how can their judgement be trusted in the future?

I agree with that.

I would like to make either of you Athletic Director at FSU.

Fisher turned FSU into a powerhouse after Bowden allowed the program deteriorate his last few years there, had one bad year where the QB got hurt week 1 and was chased out by crazed fans (all big schools have them unfortunately).

I don't blame FSU for hiring Taggart, he turned around USF and his one year at Oregon made you think he was ready.

But he wasn't. His team was consistently outcoached from day 1 to his final game Saturday. He didn't beat his rivals either. Willie got his mulligan season in year 1. You don't get to have b2b seasons where you're scrambling to be bowl elgible at FSU without losing your job. If not the prestige of your program goes down. So decide what type of standards you want from your program and if your faith in Willie Taggart's coaching ability is worth causing further damage.

Beyond that Willie was supposed to a guy whose offenses would be high-powered. They've been anything but, and look to be getting worse.

I fail to see who Willie-truthers see as the light at the end of the tunnel. I know I get tagged with being a "Jameis-homer" but atleast there are positives with Jameis that can be cited around his production and the offenses he's led ranking high. What are the positives with Willie?

I've never seen a RB play QB better than the last couple of weeks.

Isn’t there a 20 part series of articles online about Jimbo destroying the infrastructure of FSU football then leaving at the first sign of trouble?

Taggart maybe wasn’t the guy but it sounds like he inherited a mess IIRC

You can't destroy what doesn't exist. Everybody knows FSU has poor facilities. :P That infrastructure probably just crumbled on it's own.

Seriously though, I'd be interested to see those articles and the theory Jimbo intentionally sabotaged the program after waiting years to take over and then winning a natty there.

I do agree that whoever hired him should be fired as well. Why the hell Willie Taggert got the FSU job is beyond me. He had coached a total of 8 seasons in college and had TWO 8+ winning seasons. TWO! Since when does that make you worthy of getting a prestigious job at FSU? All because he was a good high school coach and he had one good season at USF? Come on.

FSU’s admin viewed Taggart as the strongest minority coaching candidate at the time of the hire so that’s why he was targeted. When you don’t consider everybody sometime you don’t make the best hire.

According to Warchant, multiple sources are reporting that Bob Stoops was in Tallahassee Monday.

Time for Stoops to return the keys to the Renegade mobile.

Spoiler:

Stoops is really an insane get given the state of FSU. He retired because he was burnt out right? FSU isn’t ****ing around and won’t allow themselves to become Tennessee (if true).

Gotta figure he can chop off at least one of those 2 annual losses in the talent bed of Florida. FSU and Clemson battling for the throne. At least until Dabo takes the Bama job when Saban retires.

I didn’t look how high Marvin Wilson is currently slated to be picked but if Stoops is the hire he should probably stay in school because I think he could be a top 5 pick. Imagine if this guy and Akers played on a team that was not horrifically coached.

What do Semenhole fans think about Mike Leach? Too much of a loose cannon?

Many of the coaches making names for themselves are part of his coaching tree.

I can't imagine the same AD who hired Willie would be interested in Mike Leach though tbh.

Sounds like the Bob Stoops to FSU rumors are serious. If I were FSU, I personally would rather have Mark Stoops. He's an SEC guy who has helped turn around Kentucky and has been in the game. Bob has been out of coaching way too long.

If something is not done with Stoops in next couple days they will probably move on to Venables or Fleck. There is definitely something here; they would not have raised 20 million so fast if they didn’t have a plan. They still have to pay Willie’s buy out from USF. Why wouldn’t they just wait until the end of the year if they didn’t have something in place?

Sounds to me like Stoops to FSU has always been the target but deals like this can fall apart before the finish line.

Warchant reporting that both sides still actively talking and FSU in process of putting together and presenting compensation package. They say everything will remain in limbo until we learn how Stoops and agent respond to it.

Lovie Smith is doing pretty well in Illinois. Maybe they should give him a call.

Minnesota was obviously scared to death of losing Fleck. They just signed him until 2026. I don't blame them. That's the coach I'd want to build my team around of all the coaches out there right now.

Looks like Stoops is going to demand 8 million a year. This is the only home run possibility available for FSU as they won’t pursue Urban Meyer.

damn when I was thinking PJ Fleck, I was thinking, who, that little kid who used to be the Bucs WR coach?

then I watched these:

and realized Minnesota is 8-0 this year...

dude is building something... and he looks to be doing it the right way... good for him, wish him all the best. And I see why they locked him up.

yeah its very impressive

reading his wiki... first year with western michigan, first thing he did was rescind all of the verbal scholarship offers that had been given out, saying:

"I know if it was me, I would be ticked," Fleck said of the players who had scholarship offers pulled. "I also know if it was me, I would have showed up in the office of the head football coach, telling him I was dying to still be here."

what a boss.

then they go 1-11, but he nets the best recruiting class the school had had in 13 years. following year they go 8-4
