The Jacksonville Jaguars are extremely excited to draft their number one ranked wide receiver with the 90th pick of the 2018 NFL Draft...

Image

Dante Pettis, WR, Washington

The best wide receiver in the class joins up with new additions, Josh Gordon, Donte Moncrief and Austin Seferian-Jenkins, as well as holdovers Marquise Lee, Dede Westbrook and Keelan Cole, to give Blake Bortles numerous weapons to make a repeat deep playoff run.

Scouting report courtesy of Matt Waldman:

Pettis is quick off the line and keeps his pads over his knees to drive defenders into a back pedal. When pressed, Pettis has a variety of effective moves including a stick, a rocker step, a three-step release, a chop, a hook-plant-and-swim, shoulder reductions, and feints.

Contact does not deter Pettis and he’ll work through attempts to reroute him. When he earns clean separation, he’ll stack a defender to control position. He’ll struggle more often against top cornerbacks, but this is not a class filled with all-around talents.

His flexibility, footwork, and short-area quickness make him an effective receiver against man and zone coverage. He can take one long, hard step at the top of his stem and drop his weight into hard breaks. This pair of maneuvers is the ideal technique you want to see on hard-breaking timing routes.

His speed breaks also have a strong plant step, a smooth snap-turn, and a flat break. This is one area where his stems could be a little longer so his route depth has greater consistency.

Whether it’s against man or zone coverage, Pettis works towards the ball from his breaks and maintains good depth. When it’s man coverage, he’ll work hard towards the target with burst. When it’s zone coverage, he’ll slide to the open area.

Where Pettis’ route running is on another level compared to his peers is his ability to tell a variety of efficient stories. His double-moves on the out-and-up and the hitch-and-go are believable because of his footwork, pacing, weight drop, and how he turns his head in the direction of the false break.

However, it’s not just double moves where Pettis’ story-telling comes into play. He sets up longer- developing routes with miniature stories in his stems that can turn opponents around as he works them inside-out or outside-in.

Pettis is as good of a route runner as any receiver in this class—including Calvin Ridley. He’s skilled after the catch like D.J. Moore but with a different style. And unlike Moore and Ridley, he’s their superior at the catch point and releasing from the line of scrimmage against press.

With the 91st pick, the New Orleans Saints pick

Micah Kiser, Linebacker, Virginia

Image

Kiser is here to challenge Manti Te'o for the starting middle linebacker job, and we think he's got the stuff to win. A hard hitter with great instincts that can stuff mobile quarterbacks and running backs alike. We got a good one here.

With the 92nd pick in the draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select:

Image

Nyheim Hines - RB - NC State

We apparently don't want to pay Le'veon Bell. Despite the fact that he is an absolute workhorse. James Conner has shown some promise but doesn't have the playmaking ability that Hines does. So we'll try to glue Conner and Hines together to make up for when Bell leaves us next year.

With The 93rd Pick In The 2018 Draft, The Cleveland Browns Select

Image

Deon Cain, Wide Receiver, Clemson

We're generally happy with this draft, but we haven't been able to address our receiver position yet. After dealing away Corey Coleman and Josh Gordon, we had a big need for a deep threat. Enter Deon Cain, who has legit 4.4 speed with a 6'2 202 frame, runs smooth routes, and can make plays with the ball in his hands. He'll be in the mix for the flanker job immediately.

With this pick in the 3rd round of this draft.. the Minnesota Vikings select..

Image

Duke Dawson - CB - Florida

Our starting corners are set. Say hello to our new slot CB. Terrance Newman is 400 and played a lot of snaps for us there. We feel Dawson comes in and locks that spot up for us.

With the 96th pick in the draft, the Oakland Raiders select:

Image

Martinas Rankin - OT - Mississippi State

Our tackles are getting long in the tooth. After missing out on the top tackles, we take Rankin who at the least could be a very good swing backup OT. Needs a year or two to build up strength but has good size and length.

With the 97th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft the Arizona Cardinals select..

S Jessie Bates, Wake Forest

Image

Still haven't solved the receiver problem, but I'm not gonna go reaching when I gave up a 2nd round pick for our QBOTF and then got left with two second round talents for third round picks. There's also a Tyrann Mathieu shaped hole in our secondary to fill.

With the 99th Overall Pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Kalen Ballage, RB, Arizona State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 228
40 Time: 4.46

Image

Got our linemen in Nelson in the First, Got our future star Hughes CB/Punt returner in the 2nd, got our future staple at WR in Anthony Miller, now we have one on the most underrated RB in this draft in Kalen Ballage.

Kalen Ballage, is a beast! One of the most underrated runners in this years draft. Ballage is a the guy that tied the FBS record for touchdowns in a single game when he scored 8 against Texas Tech 2 years ago. His production has not stopped. He can also play special teams if needed. We think with the combination of Booker and Ballage this teams running game will be a very formidable

Bucs select:

Tavaris McFadden CB FSU

I don't like it, you don't like it...but Licht gambles every draft..most of the time it involves local players (JW at #1, trading back for VH3, Aguayo etc)...

McFadden is a tall, lanky CB whom looked like a superstar in the making in 2016....

With The 104th Pick In The 2018 NFL Draft, The Cleveland Browns Select

We view Thomas as an ideal 3rd end, behind Garrett and Ogbah. We think he'll develop into a major contributor on our defensive line.

With The 105th Pick In The 2018 NFL Draft, The Chicago Bears Select:

Image

Will Richardson, Offensive Lineman, North Carolina State.

In 934 offensive snaps last year, Will Richardson allowed zero sacks and zero pressures as a right tackle. The year before, he only allowed five pressures while still not giving up a sack, also outside at right tackle. Practicing every day against Bradley Chubb probably helped him refine the nuances of his game. Richardson can generate a great push in the run game and he is a beast as a pass blocker. On the field he is a dynamite player. We think his work on film warrants a second round grade, and we thank the teams above us for letting him fall to us in the fourth. We have a need at left guard and we are going to pencil him in there. Maybe he will work his way out to tackle as he gets more comfortable in the pro game in the coming years, working particularly against stunts and quicker rushers, but we feel he can be a mainstay on our offensive line for years to come.

Richardson fell to the fourth round for three reasons. One, he was suspended twice from his team for weed, but we here in Chicago have done our homework and we think he has his head on straight now. Two, he lacks the length that some people want in a tackle, projecting him to move inside as a guard, which is fine by us. Three, he's a bit soft around his midsection; we don't give a **** because he's an excellent player, and we will have our team nutritionists sit down with him extensively.

Welcome to Chicago.

Like a a ball fired out of a cannon, that is what best describes Marquis Haynes. A Pass rushing machine, if you have any question ask Alabama. This guy knows how to get to the QB.

RB/TE/FB/DE, Jordan Mailata 6'8" 345

We've got an insider scout that tells us this guy is the next big thing. Can't shut up about him. We like his upside. Has a god-given body that you can't just "teach". We'll find a use for him.

We signed Nate Solder since Erek Flowers has been a colossal bust. We’re going to try him on the right side but Jones will compete for a starting spot.

With the 109th pick of the 2018 NFL draft the Indianapolis Colts select:

Josh Sweat, EDGE - Florida State

Image

We debated trading up into the mid 3rd round for Sweat before finally pulling the trigger to move a few spots with the Redskins here in round 4.

Josh Sweat is a former top HS recruit with ideal height, weight, length, and athleticism to be a very successful pass rusher. He never was able to live up to the hype during his 3 seasons at Florida State but we feel his best football is ahead of him. With some better coaching we expect to maximize the traits a prospect like Josh Sweat offers as he joins Bradley Chubb and Da'Ron Payne along the revamped Colts defensive line.

With the 111th pick of the 2018 NFL draft, the LA Rams select:

Image

Mike McCray, Linebacker, Michigan.

Our team is stacked, but we only return one of our four starting linebackers. That lone remnant of our depleted linebacking core is inside linebacker Mark Barron. While we got him a new friend on the outside in third rounder Kemoko Turay, Barron needs a buddy in the middle, a larger thumper who isn't afraid of blockers and who doesn't mind getting dirty. We think McCray can be that guy. He's smart, experienced, tough, strong, and he is more than capable of shutting down NFC West running games. We're excited to add him to our team.

This is in no way a reflection of our feelings about Josh Rosen. We simply understand the importance of depth at the position. We had White evaluated as a top 75 talent and we expect him to have a long, successful career in the league.

Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, Edge Rusher, Oklahoma

Our defensive coordinator, Gregg Williams, loves chess pieces. We're going to slate Og for 15 or so rush snaps a game, which will allow us to move Ogbah inside, stunt Garrett, etc, etc. We think he could be one of the most disruptive 3rd and long rushers in the league.
