The Buccaneers have traded up with the Broncos and have acquired the 47th pick in exchange for the Bucs 3rd and Cowboys 3rd...

Now that I got the selection out of the way...

My original plan was to go RB with the Bucs 2nd. But after trading Cameron Brate to the Cowboys for their 3rd, I knew I had the fire power to get back into the middle of the 2nd round. Carter was the only Edge I liked at that first Bucs pick, while I really liked Penny and Michel at RB. My plan then became to draft Carter and then move both of those 3rds to trade up and secure one of Penny/Michel.

I will admit that I got a bit nervous after the Pats took Michel so quickly though

I don't love it. I'd be happier with Chubb and Sweat/Armstrong/Ejiofor instead of Carter/Penny.

Actually, when I think that we also gave up Cam Brate, I really don't love it.

Lots of good picks in the last 10 or 12. Shows the depth of this class in this level of talent

Seconded. While Penny is okay, he isn't worth two third round picks. There would have been a comparable back there in the third round, and we could also have gotten another solid player as well as scratching RBF's running back itch.

This trade reeks of desperation.

Yeah, coming away with:

Nelson
Carter
Penny

No 3rd round picks and no Brate is a pretty bleak situation. I’d fire Licht in the war room.

Penny is the 3rd round pick, just flipped Brate to move up. With Godwin stepping up last year we will be running alot of three wide with Penny in the backfield.

I got the guys I wanted, so that's all that matters. Would have went a different direction if my goal was to be popular... :)

But could have any of the available real DE’s in round 2 and Penny and Carter with those 3rd rounders.

You know this how? We'll see come draft day, but I'll make you a bet right now that Penny and Carter will not be available at those picks. Deal?

Redskins getting Jaire Alexander in the mid second is the best value of the draft thus far imho. Good pick.

Btw, sorry for not being as active. I got the flu (influenza B) and it's been a damn roller coaster these past 36 hours. I didn't do myself any favors this AM when I took my meds on an empty stomach (rookie mistake) and proceeded to dry heave for the next 4 hours.

FML..

No, I’m not that obsessed over it that I need validation from a bet. Also, talking about this draft not one taking place in 2 months.

I was just thinking earlier that I might as well use this to my advantage and start dieting again afterwards. I've only had a bowl of oats and some pho soup in the past 2 days.

I thought I was going to die this AM. I've never heaved so violently and repeatedly for so long. I just wanted to bring my comforter and pillows into the bathroom it was so bad.

Bucs draft is trash. Nelson is a good get even if it's a top 10 guard. But drafting a LB and hoping you can make him into a great pass rushing DE and then trading 2 3rd round picks to take a RB who would've been there in the 3rd in all likelihood is the definition of filling a personal agenda. You guys wanted a worse case scenario? RBF just provided for us.

Guys. I'm up and am on my phone for tonight. I don't have my big board either.

Mind if I make my pick in the morning? I'll be able to post a pic if we wait.

Any objections?

Edit: I'm 51, not 50.

I'm loving what I did for Dallas (those **** - tards)....

Legit WR to be there #2 until Dez completely melts away slides to #1..

Brate going to them is like a damn Disney movie...

Settle makes the DL something ****ing fierce...

Agreed. I would absolutely hate this draft. Carter is a major project. I don't like Penny one bit, and he biggly overpaid to move up for him.

You wanted this years Kareem Hunt, well Penny is this years Kareem Hunt- but with 4.46 speed.

As for Carter... with you taking Davenport and Key, he was the best athletic edge gamble available.

I know I strayed off the consensus board with both those picks, but come draft day I could see both guys not even making it to Day 2...

That's what I thought, and I did put 5 back on quickly (after an initial loss of about 17 pounds), but the 12 pounds is legit gone. This was over a month ago. Zero calories, no sleep, cold sweats, over 4 days will do it.

The self inflicted need for a RB eliminates 2 players from the defense.
