In the Second Round of the 2018 Draft Tampa Bay selects...

Postby Doctor » Thu Jan 04, 2018 3:10 pm

With such a deep class the second round may as well be another first. We are going to beat the Chubb vs Nelson vs everyone else thing to death for months so I thought we should at least get started looking pass that. Who would you want the bucs to take in the second round and who do you think they'll take? Sure it's early but why not.

Want: Derrius Guice, LSU, Running Back- Sure he may not be here, but then again he may. Players fall all the time. And while it's a copycat league and RB could fly off the board, the fact that this is such a great RB class could actually work against the players themselves with teams thinking they can land a great RB later.

Bucs Draft: Taven Bryan, Florida, Defensive Lineman- Truth is we're not very good at predicting Litch picks. Short of a possible first rounder (Spence) who fell to us, I don't remember anyone picking Smith, Evans, Aguayo, etc. They tend to come out of nowhere and send us all scrambling to find out who the hell we just added. Taven is built similar to JJ Watt and is mostly seen as a 3-tech or 5-tech, but the Tampa staff doesn't really give a **** what most see a player as. If they like him they take him.

I second the Dorance Armstrong love.

After the combine, Levi Wallace will probably fall to the third because people are stupid. If we are smart, we sprint to the podium at that time if he's still there.

Assuming Barkley and Chubb don't make it to 7, I want a Nelson/Love combo with the first 2 picks. If we have to trade up a bit for Love, so be it.

Who do I think we take in the 2nd? That bubbles looking kicking MF on Georgia.

I would be happy as **** with a Chubb/Armstrong 1st and 2nd . I think Chubb might be gone by 7 so we get Nelson .
Bucs could end up with a Chubb and a Chubb (rb) 1st and 2nd lol

I just did two different boards on fanspeak and both had Armstrong going in the first.

2 things..

#2. You have hammered the "we must fix the pass rush" drum for awhile now...this is how to put your sword in the sand and back it up..

If we can somehow grab 3 pass rushers, even with 2 of them being rookies, that would make me feel very optimistic about playoffs in 2018. I don't think Ansah or Lawrence reach FA but if we got them, man look out.

It can't be emphasized enough how many games the lack of a pass rush cost us this season. At minimum I say 5. No the offense wasn't perfect but it often times helped us get a lead and stay in a lot of games. Imagine if we're able to get pressure on Tyrod Taylor late in that Buffalo game where Deonte Thompson went off and we lost the lead. Imagine if we can get Cam off his mark in Carolina on that game winning drive the Panthers had. Imagine if we could get to BRENT HUNDLEY and we don't give up a game tying FG then lose the game in IT. Detroit anyone? MNF in Atlanta? Found a pass rush but it was too late. That was literally the difference IMO between playoffs and 5-11.

I agree in principle, so long as the first guy taken is Chubb. I haven't gotten around to watching much of Key yet but Clelin doesn't blow me away enough to take at 7. Plus....he's from Clemson, ewwwww.

Honestly, I don't know who I would project for the second. I believe that the staff wants another back and, after missing on a late rounder in McNichols, they might spend a better pick to get their guy. So, based on the idea that we get Chubb in the first....I don't see why we can't take Chubb in the second too.

Nick Chubb, he looks like he is getting past his knee injury and regaining his explosiveness. He breaks tackles and is a big play threat. He's played well against the best competition. In many ways, he's a slightly bigger but faster version of Doug Martin.

He had 10 sacks the year before and a bunch of TFL’s
They changed the defense a little and asked him to stop the run basicly

Yeah, but your opinion is probably gonna change the more research you do. That's my point. Not trying to argue. Just saying it's real early in the process.
