Its a perfect example of it dont matter where you draft from - 2/3rds of the rest of the league will have a better draft.

Whereas trading our entire draft for Bradley Chubb would be a great idea? That mock would add three starters and depth at valuable spots.

Needs more defensive linemen, right?

That makes one of us.

Derwin James is a day one starter at strong safety. Connor Williams immediately challenges for that left guard position, and is the heir apparent for Dotson at right tackle. Nick Chubb would be the favorite to start at tailback. Maddox adds value CB depth, Thompson offers valuable snaps as a 3-tech, Flowers is a better version of Alan Cross, and Lawler churns the bottom of the roster as a rush end.

It's not my wet dream draft, but it would certainly get the job done.

Needs at least 3 more DE's to get the mdb stamp of approval.

And none of them can play in the FBS

NFL Draft Scout's Rob Rang reports that the New York Giants are "leaning heavily" towards taking Penn State RB Saquon Barkley with the second pick.

Rang notes that Giants GM David Gettleman gushed about Barkley on Thursday, saying he's a player "that his mother could have scouted." He also said that the devaluing of running back was "a myth." "If you have a great running back, he immediately makes your quarterback better, your offensive line better and your passing game," he said. Both Rang and fellow NFL Draft Scout writer Dane Brugler project Barkley to go to the Giants. Where there's smoke there's fire, and there's a lot of smoke here.

A week away, it's still all smokescreen...However, we're seeing more and more smoke coming from the Giants on this. A lot of people supposedly in tune with NFL circles are now reporting this. Lets remember that Gettleman doesn't always make the smartest picks on draft day(or at least he didn't for the Panthers).

Speaking of Barkley...there's some chatter now that a certain team picking at #7 could be interested in trading up to get him. Don't break your neck shaking your head folks.

Fabrication at it's finest. No chance in hell Licht trades up for a RB. Not a chance.

So there’s no chance a GM who traded up for a K will also trade up for a RB?

We now know why Arden Key left the team mysteriously last year...he went to rehab for marijuana problems.

Not a chance. Gonna cost a hell of a lot more than a 4th round pick, kyddo.

Good for him getting help. He'll be our 2nd round pick for sure. Drug problems don't scare us off.

I still find it odd we passed on a guy who was smoking thru a gas masked but the next day took a guy who got banned from an entire football conference because he was addicted to popping pills.

Uhh let's see. Failing a drug test, lying to family and the team about how the substance got into your system then failing yet another drug test. That's an addiction, kyddo.

lol... That is a tough standard imo. I guess Spence was able to get control of this "addiction" pretty easy.

Will/Did you take any of your kids to rehab the first time they lie to you or Mrs. Bootz about drugs or alcohol b/c they are addicts?

You don't know the length of his addiction. But lying and placing blame elsewhere is a huge sign of addiction. Easy? Maybe, maybe not. But he definitely had an addiction or are we supposed to believe the 2 failed drugs tests are the only time he popped X?

And for the sake of this thread and board I'm not going to dignify your question with a response.

Congrats on coming out of that draft less talent than you went into it with, despite all those high picks.

James, to me, is an interesting prospect.

IMO...in 3 years, he could be an ALL-Pro at Safety. Dude is an athletic FREAK. I also think Fitz is the better prospect RIGHT NOW. The problem I have with James is that he never really PRODUCED like a stud, in college. Yeah...there are "reasons"...I just prefer guys who've "done it".

IMO, James has the higher "upside" (I HATE that term) and Fitz is the safer pick. Maybe with NFL coaching and some "health" luck...James reaches his ceiling.

That said...I'd go CB before S. I just don't believe EITHER of Fitz OR James can cut it at CB.

It would be nice if Q. Nelson were available...I'd love to have another "no-brainer" drop into our laps...like Howard, last year.
