@Brett_McMurphy: Source: Scott Frost has agreed to 7-year, $35 million deal with Nebraska, but in days leading up today’s AAC title game was still having some “serious cold feet & remorse.” @LarsAnderson71 previously reported contract figures

I suspect Frost told his players before the game so they wouldn’t be blindsided. But you never know

Happy for the Big 10 on this one.

Ugh...if you say so.

A few up-and-coming, young coaches. Harbaugh? Meh. Ferentz? Meh.

Nice group. Hardly, "Insane".

UCF AD Danny White: Scott Frost is “committed” to coaching UCF in the Peach Bowl, despite bolting for his alma mater. https://247sports.com/college/central-f ... -111590573 … via @247Sports

Glad to hear he’s gonna coach the bowl game. Classy move. I honestly think he has some regret about leaving. I feel he honestly liked it there.

He did. You can tell he genuinely cares about his team and I’m happy to see him finish the year out. Reports were saying UCF was going to offer up to 3 million a year, but can’t blame a guy for wanting to go home, especially for more money than we could offer.

Thanks for turning the program around Scott, it’s been a hell of a ride.

That’s what I’m saying.. The majority of coaching changes feel more business-like and on sour terms. Kind of cold. This one feels like it was a tough personal decision for him.

I guess this kills theory he would stay to build UCF into a power 5 team theory which seems to pop up every year when a non P5 team has a big year.

We'll see if he ends up regretting this. Because with the Florida recruiting advantage and a committed athletic program, he could have. Wish the best to Coach Frost, but I hope he is the UCF Howard Schnellenberger.

Don't bank on it. I doubt he coaches. He is knee deep into recruiting right now for Nebraska. He will have not time to game plan nor game prep. It was nice to say but don't hold your breath. UCF has like 3 guys on the Football coaching staff at the moment. This has been confirmed as of this morning. Everyone else was on Frosts staff. Weather you like Frost or not the UCF has just been shredded before a massive showme bowl game.

Recruiting shuts down for the holidays on December 18. Frost even said yesterday he'd like to come back after recruiting closes to prepare the team for the bowl game.

However, I don't think th offense needs a ton of help with Milton orchestrating it at the level he is playing. The defense on the other hand...

With Scott Frost heading home to Nebraska, the UCF coaching search is heating up. Sources tell SI that Frost’s offensive coordinator Troy Walters is a strong candidate for the vacancy. The Knights, which were ranked No. 126 in the nation in offense before Frost and Walters arrived, are now No. 1 in the country in offense as they flipped an 0–12 team two years ago into a 12–0 American Conference champ this fall. Another candidate we’re told to keep an eye on is Clemson co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott.

The 38-year-old former Clemson wideout has an amazing personal story of overcoming tragedy, walking onto the Tigers and graduating with honors, earning a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. Elliott played a key role in the Tigers’ national title run last season, and Clemson is the No. 1 seed in this year’s playoff field. The Tigers have an 82–14 record in his seven seasons there, the last three as co-OC.

Toledo’s Jason Candle, who is 21–6 in his two seasons coaching the Rockets, is also believed to be in the mix for UCF. Candle, a product of D-III powerhouse Mount Union, just led Toledo to the MAC title.

He may but it doesn't alter the fact that every coach is highly likely to make this type of move out of a non power 5 conference.

There will be a coach with enough vision to turn UCF into a power 5 team. Expansion is coming in 4-5 years, and UCF has the money to play with the big boys.

FSU and Miami were nothing programs when my dad was in high school, and now they are blue bloods. Same thing will happen at UCF.

The bummer is that I truly believe Frost wasn't leaving for anywhere but Nebraska. He was a coach with vision who turned down P5 jobs to take the UCF job.

He won't get that chance. It's nice to say again. He will not have the amount of time needed to prep for this game. It sucks for UCF. But Frost screwed them. Although he is a nice guy, he pretty much set them back if they lose to Auburn with all these distractions. People will point to the fact that UCF didn't deserve to be on the field with AU and that's why they were never ranked close to the top 4.

The fact that commits to the UCF program have pulled away and are now considering Nebraska is another issue all on its own as well.

But people will give him a pass because he is a good guy. He set the program back after lifting it up.

You're going to have to keep your fingers crossed that the Big 12 expands and wants to add UCF. If they continue to do close to what they did this year, it'll be a no brainier.
