Kevin Sumlin is not interested in the Tennessee job, according to a tweet from Doug Gottlieb.

This is just ignorant.

Rutgers was a complete NON-FACTOR before Schiano showed up. He made them somewhat relevant...back in the day when Big East football was relevant. He was a decent college coach.

The whole "Schiano knew about Peddusky" thing is (at best) 3rd hand information.

Tennessee is a shit-show. A 3rd rate program (at best). Unfortunately, they have a fan-base that is all too common; they're entitled (kind of like UF). They feel like they should be challenging for National Championships every year. They have forgotten...they're Tennessee. Good luck Vol Fan.

I'll preface this by saying I think he got fucked by Tennessee, and that I made my post in jest.

That being said, perhaps it's my Temple bias against Rutgers, but I was never impressed by him. He did have one great year at Rutgers, which was damn impressive, but he was also carried by Ray Rice. The rest of his tenure was pretty mediocre in a deflated Big East that lost Miami and VT and Boston College and a Syracuse program that was spiraling. Sure they had some big wins, but small schools upset teams every year. It's not like he dominated the Big East year in and year out against perennial powerhouses like Cuse, Cincy, Temple, Pitt, and UConn.

Who knows, maybe he'd have been ok at Tennesse, but I just don't see much in his track record to say he'd create a power shift in the SEC, and, even if unrealistic, shouldn't that be the goal?

If he was thought of as such a great college coach, failing here (especially with the luxury of hindsight showing much was out of his control *cough Freeman cough*) shouldn't have cost him many opportunities when he became available. There have been plenty of good HC jobs available since 2013.

I actually don't dislike the guy, as so many do, nor do I think he should have necessarily been fired from here. I was beyond skeptical at his hiring because I never bought into him being that great at Rutgers; however, I embraced him as our coach once he was here... but I'm still not drinking the Schiano kool-aid. Maybe that's ignorant...

Short version: agree to disagree.

They typically have less talent than FIU. If he hadn't gotten our offer, the guy is probably coaching a top tier program right now and competing. Tennessee absolutely screwed themselves here. They'll be lucky if they can lure Ron Zook there.

I don't think he was a bad college coach. I just never bought the hype, and I wouldn't be thrilled if he was hired to lead my program (particular a semi/once prominent one). Of course, now they're going to get a coach that's a worse choice... and they deserve to.

According to ESPN radio...this is nearly a "done deal".

Which means nothing, of course but whateves.

Good luck in the SEC, Leach.

What a shit-show...

John Currie, the AD just got fired...and the Leach deal reportedly fell apart.

Usually instant karma isn't this instant.

Just read something of the same sort...the university blocked the Leach hiring.. Mcmurphy tweeted that Phil Fulmer has been sabatoging Currie in the hopes of becoming the new AD...

What a flippin' mess. I mean, seriously can't remember anything like this. I feel for the alumni who aren't jerks. They gotta be embarrassed.

(Kind of like what'll happen around here if it turns out we're NOT getting Scott Frost...)

No doubt...this is UGLY...no wonder it'd take a candidate who is literally bipolar/insane (Leach) to actually WANT the job..

This is a train wrecking into a garbage truck that is on fire...

Ya know the kind of candidate they'll probably end up getting? Your boy Bo up at YSU..he's the kind of coach they are gonna have to target to come take over this mess...

Or maybe Randy Shannon... somebody like that...

Nobody worth a damn is touching this thing..

If I were a fan of that program, I'd find another to support.

It's almost like someone up there is intentionally sabotaging the program.

What a dumpster fire.

This makes zero sense on many levels.

Start with the fact that Fulmer and Cutcliffe are tight...and Cutcliffe has already told Tennessee to kick rocks. To stay at...Duke. ****ing Duke.

First...I'm sure y'all are getting Frost but even if you don't, the school and the program don't look like incompetent rubes. Nebraska won't have multiple, uber-qualified candidates turning them down.

If (for example), FSU throws 2-3 mil/year more at Frost to get him, that isn't a reflection on Nebraska or the state of their football program.

I was hearing that too. That someone wanted the job so they were ruining his attempts.

Those fans should run that guy and whoever is in charge out of town. Didn't think they could get much worst than their last coach but they sure are going to show me.

And this is exactly why Tennessee is so fucked up right now.

Still begs the question: Why did Cutcliffe (of all people) turn down the job?

And the hilarious part is they'll hire a supremely unqualified Tee Martin and call this whole shit-show a "success". LMFAO!

Just...wtf?!

It's not so much Les Miles coaching that makes him great....although LSU's slide was more than I expected.

But it's ability to recruit. That guy can pull talent. There are 47 LSU players in the NFL right now.

What makes Miles great is his ridiculous play calling, 4th down decisions and timeout usage.

The guy is f’in crazy

He called one of the best games I have ever seen in 07 Natty

I’d love him to coach my team
