This is just ignorant.

Rutgers was a complete NON-FACTOR before Schiano showed up. He made them somewhat relevant...back in the day when Big East football was relevant. He was a decent college coach.

The whole "Schiano knew about Peddusky" thing is (at best) 3rd hand information.

Tennessee is a shit-show. A 3rd rate program (at best). Unfortunately, they have a fan-base that is all too common; they're entitled (kind of like UF). They feel like they should be challenging for National Championships every year. They have forgotten...they're Tennessee. Good luck Vol Fan.

Yep exactly

Didn't Schiano have Rutgers up to #2 in the nation at one point? I really have no clue why people think he was a bad college coach. Rutgers is an absolute joke of a program. They typically have less talent than FIU. If he hadn't gotten our offer, the guy is probably coaching a top tier program right now and competing. Tennessee absolutely screwed themselves here. They'll be lucky if they can lure Ron Zook there.

good on them

I hope the list grows...other coaches see they screwed over Schiano...hopefully they stand with their colleague.

I have no issue if TN didn't want to hire Schiano because of his ALLEGED tie to PSU...but that is due diligence they should have done long before bringing him to campus and signing a commitment sheet (or whatever it is being called) with him....that is 100% the opposite of bargaining in good faith

Source: Tennessee is closing in a deal with Purdue coach Jeff Brohm. UT interviewed Chad Morris of SMU last night but apparently UT favors Brohm.

I am told that UT AD John Currie made an offer to Jeff Brohm that Brohm accepted. Currie then asked the chancellor to approve the offer — buyout included — and chancellor said no. So Currie went back to Brohm with lesser offer and Brohm said no. So here we are.

"Just got done listening to one of the best interviews I've heard in a very long time. Clay Travis had Lane Kiffin on this morning and the interview was stellar. Clay Travis straight up asked him at the end of the interview if he would come back and save Tennessee football. Lane Kiffin said that John Currie has not reached out to him. He even got more specific by saying that Currie contacted Sexton and said here is the list of people I want to talk to and that John Currie was not interested in speaking to Kiffin. With the level of coach that Lane Kiffin is and his brilliance as a coach, how could you not even ask to interview him? How could you not even interview him?"

Lane did a lot of shitty things to Tennesee. He got people fired, embarrassed others, told recruits to leave, and left them high and dry. I'm shocked any Tennessee fan would want him back, but they are super desperate.

I know he's said before his goal is to be an NFL head coach. He's much more likely to accomplish that as the OC of a good offense than he is as a college coach, even a good one.

The words Lane Kiffin and brilliance should never ever ever, under any circumstances, be in the same sentence together.

I’m told Browns owner, and Tennessee booster, Jimmy Haslam, has been personally calling members of the Tennessee legislature who were critical of Schiano hire and telling them: “You don’t make the Tennessee hire, we do.”
