Tennessee has been deluged with protests over the reported impending hiring of Greg Schiano as head football coach, with people citing his alleged connection to the Jerry Sandusky era at Penn State.

This sounds like a REAL Tennessee hire. As opposed to that Gruden non-sense that was floating around. Tennessee is really scrambling.

How bad was the Fuller firing that David Cutcliffe wasn't hired and they had to scrape the barrel with Schiano?

Keep chasing your tail Vol Nation...

Because of the protest Tennessee will not hire Schiano, but there are rumors he signed the contract and Tennessee may have to pay him a buyout.

I don't know how much of it is true, but it's pretty crazy sounding.

Former Penn State assistant Mike McQueary claimed that Schiano knew that fellow coach Jerry Sandusky was molesting young boys. According to documents unsealed in 2016, McQueary testified that Schiano “had come into his office white as a ghost and said he just saw Jerry doing something to a boy in the shower. And that’s it. That’s all he ever told me.”

I just read a similar article on SB Nation.

Apparently, the University of Tennessee has put the "fun" back in "dysfunctional".

What a cluster-fuck.

Don’t be fooled by the Schiano to Tennessee Protests...

If Gruden was a child molester, Tennessee fans would be out sex trafficking children to court him.

Sources close to #Vols AD John Currie tell me he wasn’t aware Greg Schiano coached at Penn State - nor was he aware of the sworn testimony identifying him as having witnessed the abuse of minors -

Currie only vetted Schiano’s time from his days at Rutgers thru present day

What a clusterfuck in Knoxville. I totally understand not wanting Schiano, but this level of revolt is crazy.

What’s up with the Dom tweet? His vetting process is so amazing that he knows for a fact that Shiano did not know that Sandusky raped boys? GTFO. Seems like more a case of CYA.

I’ll take the word of the former Penn St. QB who was actually there at the time. He would have to hate Shiano beyond belief to make up a story like that.

I think there are some Vols fans that are BUCS fans as well. This is why the revolt was so prominent. We will never forget!

Damn it...I don't want to be stuck with him as DC any more. His scheme is far too passive for my taste.

Peter King blasts the Vols

I think this story about Greg Schiano having a deal to coach Tennessee, then having the deal walked back Sunday evening because of the outcry over what might have happened at Penn State connected to the Jerry Sandusky case, over what was never proven and denied by the relevant parties under oath, over what Tennessee never investigated thoroughly, is a disgrace to thinking people. It also emboldens the screamers on social media, a nod to those who think if you scream loud enough in this current iteration of America you can overcome reason, and a totally unfair slap at a good man in Schiano. The pathetic result of this caper is that the social-media lynch mob won and no matter how well Schiano does as an assistant at Ohio State, it may never be good enough for him to get a head-coaching job. The water has been poisoned by the crazies. In America today, that matters.

Tennessee AD John Currie has made his pitch to Mike Gundy today in Dallas. Oklahoma State is home for Gundy, but he talked last week by phone with Peyton Manning and was impressed. Vols are prepared to make Gundy one of the SEC’s highest paid coaches if he takes the job.

@FootballScoop: Source tells FootballScoop Tennessee now eyeing Chad Morris. Report out of Knoxville, if Morris not the guy then Tennessee could turn to Auburn DC Kevin Steele

This is just ignorant.

Rutgers was a complete NON-FACTOR before Schiano showed up. He made them somewhat relevant...back in the day when Big East football was relevant. He was a decent college coach.

The whole "Schiano knew about Peddusky" thing is (at best) 3rd hand information.

Tennessee is a shit-show. A 3rd rate program (at best). Unfortunately, they have a fan-base that is all too common; they're entitled (kind of like UF). They feel like they should be challenging for National Championships every year. They have forgotten...they're Tennessee. Good luck Vol Fan.
