I think Georgia beats Penn state head to head.

Not a believer in TCU.

Notre Dame has actually really impressed me this year. I've watched a lot of their games and it's not the same ND team from the past that was "overhyped". This one is for real. They actually have a defense this year, not just an offense. I'm not sure they can run the table because their schedule is pretty brutal from here on out with three games against top-20 teams, two of which are on the road, but if they were to win out, they will be in the final 4 at the end of the season.

I would love to see that matchup of UG v PSU

TCU is good. I think they can beat anyone ... but yet I think they can be soft too. Punch them in the mouth and see what they can handle.

Based on "eye" test and schedule, here's my top 10:

1) Alabama
2) Georgia
3) Notre Dame
4) Ohio State
5) Clemson
6) Penn State
7) Oklahoma
8) TCU
9) Oklahoma St.
10) UCF

Sorry Wisconsin...I know you're undefeated, but beat somebody and beat these weak teams in impressive fashion. Miami falls in pretty much the same boat. They've looked like crap the last three weeks against three easy opponents.

Not sure about Wisconsin here. Their toughest win so far was Fla. Atlantic and they have struggled against Illinois, Northwestern and Purdue. Give them Michigan, Penn State or Ohio State's schedule thus far and they'd have two losses at least. The playoff commmittee has a history of penalizing teams with weak schedules.

A lot of people are actually saying Georgia could be ranked #1 in the college football poll on Tuesday. Will be interesting to see. Most everyone seems to agree the top 4 will be Georgia, Bama, ND and Ohio State. 1-2 and 3-4 could be flip-flopped any which way.

Sounds about right.

Clemson might not even play for the conference championship and could easily **** the bed again...but that will work itself out over time. As will most of these questions.

Thus far, the top 3 have been the most impressive temas...BY FAR.

LOTS of shuffling ABOVE that.

TCU/OKL (TWICE?)
GA/BAMA
ND/MIAMI
CLEM/MIAMI
AUB/BAMA

This year has REAL chance at seeing some damn craziness...and it is setting up for UCF to get a shot.

I still think they lose some bs game...but it's setting up nicely for them...

Didn't they stay at 18?

I still don't think it's realistic. I think there are a ton of 2 loss teams that would get in over them.

There will need to be double digit plane crashes before the committee puts UCF into the playoff. The fact that UCF didn't move up after beating SMU on the road at night, with several teams near them getting beat, forget it.

Best bet is a New Year's 6 bowl game against Wisconsin or someone.

And there is EVERY opportunity for that to happen.

The Big 10 has already fucked itself.

It's unfortunate that the polls have ranked an undefeated UCF so poorly but they (UCF) only have themselves to blame. That said, how do you rank a 2 loss team ABOVE an undefeated team? UCF isn't Harvard or some bullshit team.

Right now...TODAY...I'd rather see UCF play Georgia than Ohio State play Georgia. OSU has **** the bed. TWICE. They are DONE IMO.

And they won't be playing WIS, as (per m prediction), they will be undefeated and in the Final 4.

Pretty sure Wisconsin loses to whoever comes out of the other half of the B1G. They have played a worse schedule than just about anyone in the country.

And UCF didn't screw themseleves out of anything, other than being horrible 2 years ago. I agree that they would have more Boise State-like respect if they didn't have that gaping hole of an 0-11 season between a Fiesta Bowl victory and this current undefeated season.

Doesn't matter what their (WIS) schedule is...they have to win ONE game and they're in the tournament. They MAY lose that game...but they might win it.

And yes...UCF DID screw themselves. When you play in a "mid-major" conference, you have to play someone of note out of conference to even have a SHOT. You can disagree all you like but that's just tough **** and the way it is. I'm not saying it's FAIR...it's just the way it is.

Not being able to play the Ga. Tech game really hurts them.

But they'll get a chance in a New Years game against a big time program...unless they **** the bed before then. Hell...would LOVE to see them against OSU or Penn St. or Washington or the Miami/Clemson loser. And it would be a great chance for them to set themselves up NEXT YEAR...

There’s no way Wisconsin controls their own destiny. Even if they win out they need help. If you listened to the playoff committee chairman on Tuesday, he hinted at that. If Bama, ND, Clemson and Okla win out, they will be positioned ahead of Wisky in final poll. The SOS argument is killing the Badgers. They also had some poor outings where they won but didn’t impress against teams like Purdue and Illinois. So I think Wisconsin is going to need teams like Notre Dame to lose and prollu Oklahoma to lose in order to get in assuming they win out.

That could very well be true (regarding Wis). There are 5 "major conference" champions AND ND killing it this year. SOMEBODY (or 2 or 3 somebody's) is getting short shrift at the end of the year. And if that's the case, how on earth does UCF get there? If SoS matters in a "Big 5" conference, surely it's even more important in a mid-major.

In order for a school like UCF or USF to get serious consideration, they need to go the Boise St. route and play serious, out of conference opponents.

And save the "nobody will play us" rebuttal. Simply not true.

You can kill their non-conference schedule, but here are the Knights wins:

vs FIU (6-2)
@ Maryland (4-5)
vs Memphis (8-1)
vs Cincinnati (3-6)
vs ECU (2-7)
@ Navy (5-3)
vs Austin Peay (6-4)
@ SMU (6-3)

UCF has 3 wins you can consider strong on the resume (Memphis, @ Navy and @SMU), with two of those being on the road. Plus, they obliterated B1G member Maryland.

Compare that to Wisconsin's schedule:

vs Utah State (5-5)
vs FAU (6-3)
@ BYU (2-8)
vs Northwestern (6-3)
@ Nebraska (4-5)
vs Purdue (4-5)
@ Illinois (2-7)
@ Indiana (3-6)

What's the most impressive win there? Northwestern?? Northwestern had a 3 TD defeat at the hands of Duke (4-5), so I don't know how much stock you can put into that team. The only other team with a winning record that they have PLAYED is FAU (shout out to Lane Kiffin). Wisconsin is very likely to lose one of their next two games.

It's hard to imagine the crap year the Big Ten is having won't keep Wisconsin out. Beating a 2 loss team on a neutral field isn't going to move the needle enough unless there are some obvious losses also. I was at the game in Lincoln, and they're not the same bully this year they usually are.
