It's ****ing USF.

Calm your tits.

USF is a 2nd rate school. Academically AND athletically. For such a large school (1st or 2nd largest in the state), they have NO on campus stadium and their facilities (athletically) SUCK. Until that changes, they'll never recruit more than 3 Star athletes. Strong is the right coach...but he's working handcuffed.

If he can keep this team in the top 20, year over year, he's doing one helluva job, until things change.

There is enough talent LOCALLY to maintain a decent team. Hell...this isn't recruiting Nebraska for ****'s sake...but to expect this school to challenge for serious title consideration is pie-in-the-sky...AT BEST.

USF needs to have no more than a 2-loss season and look to have a better out-of-conference schedule if they want to evolve.

play any of the "big 3" in the state, play a Big 10 or ACC opponent. Hell, play Notre Dame.

Then you'll get noticed.

Agreed.

They should steal a page from Miami's playbook back in the late 70's-early 80's. Play the big-timers ON THE ROAD. No home-and-home...on the road.

And win.

It's a different era (obviously)...and money talks...but upgrade your facilities, conference and schedule...and give yourself a CHANCE to recruit better athletes. USF does the best they can, with what they have. They just don't have much...other than being able to recruit in a rich area and get kids who are gonna struggle to get into FSU/UF/Miami.

Scheduling is difficult. Power five teams don't want to play teams like USF because they run the risk of losing and don't want to enter into a home and away agreement. The schedule you see is all about who is making $$$ and where. That's college football today.

I don't blame USF for not wanting to play all their non-conference games on the road. So it is what it is. IF and until USF can get an invite to play in a Power 5 conference, this is what we're going to see. Better support from the home folks would go a long way towards attracting a Power 5 conference. Obviously, with the suck-ass fans in Tampa, this will never happen. Kinda of a Catch-22.

They need an on campus stadium. Or at least one that isn't 20 minutes from campus.

And selling out that stadium, for a nationally televised game would be helpful as well.
