I'm intrigued by Derwin James. My concern that I will be focusing on with him will be his ability to cover in the back end. I realize this isn't what makes him special but if he's more LB than DB than it hurts his draft stock imo. Either way I think the kid is heck of football player who make an impact wherever he goes. But I don't want a box safety in the top 10. He just can't be liability in the rare time he's asked play 2-deep or quarters.

Basically I want to see if he's more of a Jamal Adams type of SS (who can play 2-deep if asked) or Mark Barron (who gets lost in coverage more than 5-10 from the LOS).

James is freak athlete regardless so some team is going to pull the trigger early on his talent and plan to utilize it.

Ramsey is a better corner than safety. James is a better safety.

Agreed, different positions and skillsets so not a good comp at all. Ramsey is physical CB which would allow him to play Safety if the team desired. James is a SS who reminds me Jamal Adams from last year, maybe some Mark Barron also. Great athletes who are best used playing downhill attacking the LOS and backfield.

Regardless, I've seen him make splash plays and I've seen him make derp plays. I started out real high on him early in the season, but he faded along with the rest of the team.

I want to get a look at some other guys at that position before I totally write him off, but he just doesn't get me fired up.

Take it for what it's worth, but a buddy of mine who's a big FSU fan and knows his stuff says he has questionable instincts.

It was this play that was the first to have me say WTF about Derwin.

Apologize for the dudes in the video, but this is the only clip of it I can find right now. You only have to watch the first 15 seconds.

Bad pursuit, bad angle, bad derp, lazy chase.

Come on, MB. This is beneath you. You're way better than that. Way better than using 1 play as validation for your position on a player.

Dread, to me James can be another Landon Collins. He's better in the box being a difference maker near the LOS and he's not helpless in coverage like Barron was.

Like I said, I started the season real high on him, he had a pretty good game as I recall against Alabama, but you can't ignore this. This is a thing. An effort thing in particular.

La Tech's left guard has a lot of natural gifts for a 325lb man that can move...but he leads with his head.

Punch, man.

For those that have watched a lot of Josh Allen(QB from Wyoming)....why is he ranked so high?

Sure, he's a big, strong armed QB....but he's so freakin raw everywhere. Few games I've seen him in, he played like a mental nugget for most of the game except for a drive or 2. He posted an amazing 1/8 TD/INT ratio against power 5 opponents, and only had a 13-6 ratio this year with multiple games under 100 yards passing.

Yet everyone wants to put him as a first rounder.

He looks the part and has a big arm. As I recall, his coach used to work with Carson Wentz, so the comparisons are easy to make.

I agree with you; in the games I saw, he played like a potato.

Any move that has Winston talking and thinking about college football is a dumb move. Scatter needs to focus on the future not the past!
