I hope the experience was still fun.

I was banking on the end of the year Hawkeye meltdown that always seem to happen under Frentz ... not to mention they are a shitty Road team

Too bad, but I have no sympathy for Tattoo (that team down south). Michigan is essentially playing their third string QB

20-14 Michigan

It is very difficult to win a game when you give up over 225 rushing yards at 4.7 yards per carry. Credit to Ohio State.

The run defense can't hold up against top teams. We are built to stop the pass and protect leads. Especially when we can't get or maintain the lead, it's a rough day.

We were a young team this year and lost a ton of experience. I always thought this would be a rebuilding year.

When we get a solid quarterback, or even better a consistent offensive identity that isn't just padding stats in the fourth quarter, I think that Michigan will make some noise. Maybe next year.

BREAKING: Speight to transfer elsewhere for fifth year

Now it’s down to Peters vs Mcafferty

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Speight is/was fool's gold.

I know he was hit and miss, but he was the only quarterback on the roster that scared me a bit

Speight has regressed badly, and O'Korn just doesn't have any juice. Peters and McCaffrey are the future. I have full confidence that they can beat Ohio State in future seasons.

what was the full story with Speight? Did he get benched or injured or both?

Going into the year, I thought he had the 2nd most potential in the Big 10 behind McSorley

On an OSU note...if our future is Haskins, our offense is going to change a bit...we still might be read option, but it seems that more carries will go to the RB as Haskins doesn't seem a very good runner...and we will have a more traditional (and hopefully explosive) passing game.

I think we will have a great competition next year between him and Martell

So being the stat geek I am, I sent the following e-mail to my former colleague who is also a stat geek and a UM alum...we have a standing $10 Starbucks gift card bet on all games:

So according to the binomial theorem, if Michigan were an equal peer to THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY in football, there would be only a .000061 probability that we would beat you 13 out of 14 times.

This leads me to believe .... we are no longer peers

Please direct all future rivalry bets to Purdue Boilermaker alum.

And for the record

Dobbins > Taylor

And what Meyer has done with JT Barrett is pretty darn impressive. I think we would all agree that Barrett is at best an average QB for a tier 1 school, yet Meyers record with him is insane

Agreed. Barrett isn't that great a QB, but he produces when he needs to. He's had his share of flops, but generally he gets it done.

I wouldn't be opposed to drafting him in, say, the fourth round.

I read that as well. Needless to say, he'd be a welcome addition. Hell, he could make us playoff competitive next year.

Do it Dom.

M is is probably getting THREE guys from Ole Miss. If there are 7 guys wanting to transfer, too bad, there's no room.

Those three are going to be Patterson, Jefferson and Anderson.

A few recruits are bailing on Frost.

Hope he gets a few late deciders to help the class....the faster he gets a real chance the better for the conference.

Pretty standard, really. A lot of guys probably saw that Nebraska isn't going to match their skill sets under Frost and looked elsewhere. Though I guess it's a bit surprising that their only WR recruit currently verbally committed is visiting tOSU this weekend.

He only has one way to go though, as Nebraska currently has the lowest rated recruiting class in the B1G.

I've read that since he's not a senior, he will have to sit a year. Still, he's a hell of a pickup.

Interesting.

Well, I hope to be proved a liar. As I said, if he's under center on our team, that's young everywhere with a talented defense and running game, we can make some noise next season.

Still need to fix the run D, but if we have a QB who isn't a complete potato, we may be able to get away with more finesse defense and smaller boxes, which is our strong suit.
