I'm starting to recognize a pattern in the players you like. So what is it about Billy Brown that stands out to you?

His pattern isn't that difficult to figure out. Generally small school guys that are better athletes then football players, with the potential to find a gem with the right coaching. Generally values size and speed over other attributes(stats also are a big key). Most of the names he post are those that make you think.

How many of your thinkers are lighting up the NFL right now?

He's big and he is used to catching the ball and doing something with it and it wont require a high draft pick. When he goes out into his route on a run play he looks to block and seems pretty good at it. I was interested in him when he was a big WR because I thought he could help us with plays on the outside because of his size, I think most DB's are going to try and go around his block instead of tangling with him.

Drafttek has him ranked 270th, that would be me calling for him to be a UDFA contract.

CBS has him at the 235th ranking which might cost us a pick.

If he dont work out atleast he has a little start up money.

I still think we would be very wise to pick up Grover Stewart and let him make his rounds thru the offensive lines just to see who can handle him one on one.
Many players will let it be known, help is needed. I think he can have a good career as a disruptive force up the middle - making quarterbacks very wary of not standing to comfortable in the pocket.

Could be quite a different distraction from what we are usually able to do. QB's arent going to like watching their linemen back up at the snap of the ball.

Let this guy get some snaps with different players on our d-line (including Chris Baker) and we could end up with a quite good rotation.

Stewart is definitely a beast and would give us an element of physicality that I believe we have missed/needed for a long time..

Good call here MDB..

When I look at the two Drafttek look most favorable to us in my opinion but when it plays out CBS is probably more accurate. I hope the Drafttek rankings slide in our favor though --- for the players I want.

I've never used drafttek for anything in my life. My go-tos for draft info are NFL.com, CBS, and ESPN.

The only reason I have used Draftek is because it wasn't blocked at my last job.

The big board on that site tends to be pretty accurate in the top 50 for the last couple of years though. Starts to fly apart in the third and by day three, the picks are all over the place.

I still think it's a pretty good site though.

That's cool. I seem to be the Draftek guy around here so I thought I' give an honest assessment of it as a resource for all us wanna be scouts and GM's.

Word. I'll look into it, I've pretty much exhausted CBS, ESPN, and NFL.com at this point.

CBS and Drafttek are there year round, NFL.com and ESPN are just combine players arent they? They just do a select few or maybe you got to pay to see a list. I dont think they do as many players.

Can't speak for CBS, but Draftek's big board covers 300 players.

They update it every week to ten days from the kickoff classic up to the draft.

Gonna hit them up for an Excel copy of the preseason big board this fall so I can try and get a leg up on games I need to watch.

If we ignor the wealth of cornerbacks in this draft would we consider bringing back Verner on a one year deal and would he accept

I would feel a lot better if we had a veteran corner on the bench. Verner or someone else. I love Josh Robinson on specials but that's about it. There are a bunch of guys who could play that role adequately. Verner, Shareece Wright, Leodis McKelvin, Leon Hall...someone.

Both of you are correct and I have to admit I'm a bit surprised that there hasn't been more talk of this. Our corner position has me a bit uneast at the moment. Our #1 is 34 and in a contract year. Our #2 was a rookie last year and was decent at best. Behind him? Meh at best(JAB, Elliott, Robinson). I hope we draft some talent and perhaps grab another veteran at some point.

You forgot Cody Riggs.

I still have hope for my boy Ryan Smith. I still say we could load up on em, they're begging us to pick them.

Sounds kind of like our Safeties...except we're better off at corner. And that's a scary proposition.

At both positions, we're one injury away from disaster.

I don't feel as bad about the safeties as I did this time last year. Tandy & Conte improved as 2016 went along. McDougald did as well but of course he's not here. Wilcox however looked like **** in Dallas but he clearly is signed to be just part of the rotation.

At corner, what's the plan? Roll with JAB as starting nickel? No thanks. And again, our #1 is 34 years old. In a league where Darrelle Revis went from All Pro to JAG in a single season at age 31, I'm not as optimistic as a year ago.

3. Kansas City Chiefs (27) to Tampa Bay Buccaneers (19) for LB Haason Reddick

You don't see a lot of trades in the first round for linebackers, but this year might be different. The Chiefs need to upgrade the second level of their defense, especially with Derrick Johnson nearing retirement. Reddick can play outside or inside in a three- or four-linebacker scheme. With every team in slots 20 through 24 potentially being interested in Reddick, it would take a trade-up to land him -- likely costing the team a couple of middle-round selections (they have third- and fifth-round compensatory picks).

!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ !!!

I not sure what Chad Reuter is suggesting we get for compensation but it better be pay in our favor substantially.
