Favorite Late Picks/UDFAs

Postby Naismith » Wed Dec 28, 2016 12:00 pm

I'm totally on the Janarion Grant bandwagon.

Who are some other favorites that project late, if drafted at all?

Baylor WR KD Cannon declared for the draft today.

I'd love to grab him in the 3rd/4th.

He'll go in the 2nd..

He's in that 2nd tier of WRs along with Westbrook, Ford etc...

CBS has him as a 6-7th round prospect. He's a pretty poor route runner and occasionally takes himself out of the play. One of the biggest knocks I've read on him from scouting reports is that he really hasn't progressed all that much as WR while at Baylor, which is concerning.

4. Keionta Davis, DE, Chattanooga. A College Column Anonymous Scout gushed about Davis earlier this season: “High on this guy,” he wrote, noting that Davis caught his eye last season after a strong showing against Florida State tackle Roderick Johnson.

Nice, love me some defensive linemen.

DE Teidrick Smith, Mary Hardin-Baylor
Vitals: 6-foot-1, 240 pounds, Sr.
Short bio: Two-time Division III All-American (honorable mention in 2014, second team in 2015).
Considered a: Not ranked.
You have to turn over a lot of rocks to find a gem, especially at the Division III level. But Smith has potential. The Crusaders are using him as an edge rusher and he has the speed and instincts to get at opposing quarterbacks. He had 18 sacks last season. To move to the NFL Smith would have to transition to linebacker, and that wouldn’t be a bad thing in the Cowboys’ 4-3 defense. His speed would fit in well. His ability to get to the quarterback would be a value add. He’s a sure-handed tackler and opportunistic, as I saw when he forced a fumble against Linfield. Smith likely won’t be drafted and will struggle to get noticed. Speedy linebackers are a dime a dozen. But I saw a player with speed, instincts and skill that’s worth a flier as an undrafted free agent in the right system.

52 sacks!

Joe Mixon

Talent wise, he's just below Fournette, Cook, and McCaffrey. Could've been a 2nd/3rd rounder if not for the video of him punching a chick in the face.

If we dont line up 2 or 3 nose tackles for camp as UDFA's I'm going to be pissed off.

Big Grove will prolly get drafted so I'll give two others.

Nick James and DJ Jones.

I don't think you read the thread title.

I like WR/TE Billy Brown out of Shepherd. Averaged 94 catched, 1530 yards, and 16 TD over the last two years. 22 TDs the last year.

Keon Hatcher WR, Arkansas stuck out to me at the combine with his size and a good fourty.

Looks to go undrafted, but I don't know why. I admit to not scouting him at all.

Ricky Seals-Jones fell off a cliff as a WR prospect. He's a monster at 6'5 240. That and 4.6 speed makes me wonder if he'd like to try playing Tight End.

I think he has mostly been training at TE. I'm pretty sure he's been working with Tony Gonzalez.

Did he work out as a TE at his pro day?

I kind of hate how "Try you hand at TE" is becoming the go to move for failed big WRs. Heck if Mike Williams (USC) came out today he'd probably come out as a TE.

RSJ can still play WR in the NFL, but he could be dominant against Linebackers and safteys which is why that is getting tossed around.

He has all the measurables for the position. The question is whether or not he can play it.

Ditto. I thought he had All-Pro written all over him.

Still, he seems to have his life headed in the right direction. I met him at a coaching clinic in Los Angeles last year. He's a high school coach there now. Shared a beer, talked ball. Nice guy.

David Jones, Richmond. Signed with the Pats. Watch him in a couple of years be one of the top safety's from this class.
