I have a good feeling about Michigan for the upcoming season, despite losing Bush and Gary in the top twelve of this last draft and Winovich to the Patriots in the third.

Ohio State looks vulnerable. Urban Meyer is gone and Haskins is too. This is the year to get that monkey off our backs.

I've been saying it for some time, but maybe the offense won't be a dumpster fire this year. Reload on defense and let's get after it.

Can't wait for the season to start.

We thought that last year too, look what happened?

The offense was not explosive at all last season. They'd look on point in the fourth quarter after grinding out a few dozen carries in the run game and the defense was exhausted, but they didn't have a consistent threat to make explosion plays.

The running game was more consistent than dominant, and the passing game was very inconsistent. Peoples-Jones or Collins could occasionally create for themselves at wideout, but the scheme didn't give them easy looks, nor did the offense throw to then in single coverage whenever a run into a stacked box would suffice. Defenses would spin safeties down into the box and we'd run into trash ALL THE TIME without having the offensive line to have success regardless.

I love the run game as much as anyone, but when the defense doesn't respect your best two offensive players, you'd be an idiot to not challenge those matchups.

The offense in the spring game looked a bit Clemonsy. I have high hopes for Josh Gattis at OC.

Man our OOC scheduling this year is embarrassing

Michigan has the toughest and likely will face the only potential top 10 team -- ND

Underlined teams either finished rank or will likely be ranked to start:

Illinois -- Akron, @ UConn, EMU
Indiana -- @Ball State, East Illinois, UConn
Iowa -- Miami (OH), Iowa State, MTSU
Maryland - Howard, Syracuse, @ Temple
Michigan - MTSU, Army, ND
Mich State - Tulsa, WMU, ASU
MINN -- SD St, @ Fresno, Ga Southern
Nebraska -- S. Alabama, Colorado, North Illinois
Northwestern - @ Stanford, UNLV, UMASS
Ohio State - FAU, Cincy, Miami (OH)
Penn State -- Idaho, Buffalo, Pitt
Purdue - @ Nevada, Vandy, TCU
Rutgers - UMASS, BC, Liberty
Wisconsin -- USF, CMU, Kent

A few teams I like to follow, In-terms of scheduled games (no bowls, no playoffs)...

MSU 6-6
Michigan 9-3.
Ohio State 10-2.
Nebraska 8-4.

OSU reloaded QB with one of the better prospects in recent memory. They have a couple 5*s coming in who should probably start day 1. Ryan Day could totally suck but I think there's enough residual Urban-ness to carry them to at least 9 wins. Day cleared out some subpar coaches and poached some (presumably) better coaches, including d-line coach Greg Mattison and LB coach Al Washington, both from Michigan.

Nebraska is ready to take a step forward, but not ALL the way forward, yet. Adrian Martinez has to stay healthy or they'll be in trouble. I think Frost is THE man but his squads' propensity for flags and undisciplined play could cost him a couple more games than they should lose. Go back and watch some 2018 Nebraska highlights. They really really killed themselves in critical spots. I don't expect that to go away completely but it'll get better.

Michigan's offense was...Cheb put it right. Just no explosion there. I think their offense takes a step forward but defense takes a step back (it has to, right?).

I'm kinda up to date on MSU and my gut tells me they improve their record because there's no way their offense can be THAT bad again. But my head it telling me that the QBs suck, the o-line sucks, the offensive coaching staff sucks, and the recruiting classes are falling off. Dantonio may be on his way out. he peaked a while ago. He went 36-5 in 2013-2014-2015. He's 20-18 since. He needs a big year but I don't see it happening. That said, they have some NFL talent at critical spots, including the secondary. Watch out for Josiah Scott.

Looking at the Phil Steele overview for Michigan, he thinks they're going to run the table, finally beat Ohio St, and make it to the playoffs.

Could happen I suppose. OSU is a coin-flip on paper and that's probably their hardest game. But this is CFB and B1G. **** happens. Often too much **** to run the table

This was his 2019 forecast overview:

"Jim Harbaugh took over a 5-7 team and had double-digit wins each of his first two years. In 2017, UM was just #127 on my Exp chart and fell to 8-5 with DD losses to the #2, #5, and #8 teams and a blown 19-3 3Q lead in the bowl. Last year Michigan dropped the opener at ND by 7, then rattled off 10 straight wins getting more dominant by the week. They were #4 in the playoff rankings and favored at Ohio St with the nations best defense. After a stunning 62-39 loss in Columbus, they got whipped in the Peach Bowl 41-15 by Florida. They do lose 5 players to the NFL draft. Michigan is on a current run (s/2006) of 1-18 on the road vs AP Top 25 teams. Michigan has 13 returning starters this year and the offense should be improved as they move to the spread which fits QB Patterson's skill set more. Don Brown's defense loses some key players but figures to be in a nasty mood after the way they finished last year(Went from 13.5 PPG before last two games to 19.1 PPG). Jim Harbaugh is 2-7 vs Ohio St, Michigan St, and ND but gets all 3 at home. My main two sets of power rankings call for Michigan to run the table at 12-0 and yes that would include their first win over Ohio State since 2011. Michigan makes the playoffs."

I can easily see Mich running the table. In fact, I would say they have the best chance to go undefeated of any B1G team. They have a harder OOC than OSU, but they should hit the ground running so to speak.

Harbaugh was ready to cede control in favor of a faster, more up-tempo style of play.

Spread offense

Ya, it’s going to be interesting to see what they do. I’ve read a couple articles on it.

Agreed, I can see Michigan run the table but I’m nervous about Ohio State game.

Jim Harbaugh remind me of former OSU coach Copper in late 90s

So ESPN did a study to determine Position U. It includes all players since 1998 and includes both college and NFL production.

Here are the Big 10 teams that made it

QB - OSU #10
RB - Wisc #2
WR - OSU #2, Mich #8
TE - Iowa #2, Wisc #5
OL - Wisc #2, Mich #4, OSU #5
DL - PSU #3, OSU #6
LB - OSU #3, PSU #5, Mich #9
DB - OSU #1

since they adopted the CFP principles -- 1998.

i'm surprised OSU didn't crack the top 10 in RB given we had some RB's win some college awards and make AA teams.

i'm also surprised Michigan didn't make DL

one month away from the first big 10 game on the 29th (MINN)...most teams open the 30th or 31st!

Early predictions:

East
1. Michigan
2. Ohio State
3. Mich State
4. Penn State
5. Maryland
6. Indiana
7. Rutgers

West (they might actually be decent this year)
1. Wisconsin
2. Nebraska
3. Northwestern
4. Purdue
5. Iowa
6. Minn
7. Illinois

Michigan over Wisconsin in title game.

This should be one of the better years for the conference in a while IMO.

They need to rebuild the Big East.

Wouldn't be any worse than C-USA.
