49ers win makes it a bit more interesting...

We now have a chance to reach #4 if they win again and the other scenario plays out(Bears beat Browns and Texans beat Colts)

This. I'm now seeing him all over the ****ing place. Anywhere from 235 to 265. Obviously...his combine weight will tell the tale. IF he's 250 plus...I'm on board as a DE. That said...this is moot depending on where we draft. At 235, we would have to move to a 3-4 to make him worth while...and we don't need more LB's.

SF won AGAIN tonight. They now have 4 wins. ANOTHER team to add to the "Win One More" club. Now...were drafting between 4 and 7. If we're at 7...I'd try like hell to move back. At 4...we have real possibilities.

If only one could see who the overachievers will be. What a blessing it would be to have super solid contributors all throughout our draft process.

Or Keelan Cole - a perfect example of a quarterback opening things up for a wide reciever.

I think 4th overall is possible. 9ers win again, Houston beats Indy, and we lose out and edge Chicago in the tiebreaker.

Bears play the Browns in Chicago this week so hopefully the Bears pick up their 5th win.
Texans play Indy week 17 like you mentioned. Texans are without BOTH their 1st and 2nd round picks so they have no inventive to lose for draft position.
49ers have the Jags and Rams the last 2 games, they are playing well but we'll see if they can pull an upset like that.

I think the odds are good the Bucs will lose out finishing 4-12 in addition to the top 2 things above, which would give us the 5th pick overall.

I think Indy is gonna take Chubb or Barkley, after the Browns and Giants go QB. 9ers seem to be honed in on Nelson and Fitzpatrick if Chubb is off the board.

I could see it:

Browns: QB
Giants: QB
Colts: Chubb/Barkley
49ers: Nelson/Fitz
Bucs: ?????

Falcons are playing for their playoff lives. I would be genuinely impressed if we beat them- actually more than that, I'd be shocked.

Mini Mock:

1. Browns, Sam Darnold, QB
2. Giants, Saquan Barkley, RB (opt to give it another run with Eli and/or like Webb)
3. Colts, Bradley Chubb, DE
4. Browns, Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB
5. 49ers, Quenton Nelson, OG
6. Bucs, Arden Key, DE

R2 Bucs, Bryce Love, RB
R3 Bucs, Ross Pierschbacher, LG
R4 Bucs, Brandon Facyson, CB

No new HC would pass on what is basically his choice on a slew of potentially great QBs to give it one more shot with Eli. In fact, you can totally give it one more shot- because you don't have to start the kid right away. Look at Alex Smith in KC, or heck, Eli himself sat. No way in hell Giants don't go QB unless it's one of those hiring where a new HC trades for the back up on his old team or something like that. But I can't think of any situation like that atm.

The top picks, also have a lot of cap, and someone is landing Le'veon Bell this offseason so that will be a game changer. I can see the 49ers, Colts, even us. His bidding war will likely give us a good idea who will be targeting Barkley.

The Giants fans I've seen seem to want to give it one more shot with Eli and like Webb alot, so that's what I was going off of. Barkley could step on the field and change that offence dramatically.

My version if the top five go like that.

Ya it's kind of a worst case scenario. I'm huge fans of Jackson, Hernandez, and Harris so I would love that draft- though not getting an elite edge would hurt.

I don’t often jump into mocks/draft discussion; but this would not be smart imo. Trading down with Key on the board and not addressing DE until the 4th??

Not sold on Key yet. I want to see how much he weighs at the combine.

Agreed with Rocker. And I don't often advocate going for need. But we cannot continue ignoring the pass rush until later and expecting different results. If your only concern on Key is his weight, take him and scheme around it. At this point no chance I'm passing up pass rushers I give high grades to. This is the year I'd reach a little because we cannot continue running out Will Clarke's and Ryan Russell's and Jacques Smith's and hoping for the best.

I'm quite confident Key will come in at the combine at at least 255lbs. I'd be shocked if he's under 250lbs, and expect him to be around 260-265 or so.

Also agree with Bootz, pass rushers you pretty much have to take in the top 20 otherwise they're lottery tickets.

How much more of a sure thing is Chubb than Key? Is he someone you would trade up for if it meant giving up picks (presumably our 2nd rounder)?

I get it, and if Key shows up at 250, I'm good, if he shows up at 235, not so much.

I said before that I have no problem with lighter speed rushers. One of my favs in this draft is Hercules Mata'afa who is a killer speed rusher at 255lbs soaking wet.

My take on Key right now is wait and see.

My other concern with him is this (and I watched ZERO LSU games this year so help me out):

Did he play with his hand in the ground or was he always standing up? I have a hard time taking a guy at #4 or 5 and has never played DE...and try and makes him a DE.

He's done both. And he's a guy who's got the frame to grow and be a legit every down end. He's not Spence, a maxed out 6'2" 250lbs guy. He's a 6'6" guy who still growing and developing and should be Simeon Rice size or so.

Chubb is not the boom/bust prospect that Key probably is but the reason people here love him so much as more to do with need and him being the best of what’s available rather than him being some amazing prospect. This just strikes me as a weak draft, particularly regarding 1st-round prospects and not a strong pass-rush draft either.

I think Chubb is the real deal myself, he's just not the freak Garrett and Clowney were. He's close to the level Bosa was a couple of years ago though IMO.

Key is a wildcard. By draft day he could be firmly a top 10 guy or a Day 2 guy. But he's got the physical gifts to be an elite edge.
