Steelers listening to offers for bell

Postby BucdUpReality » Sun Sep 23, 2018 12:49 pm

Per bleacher report...

This team has no running game and he’s a special talent that could take this offense to a ridiculous level. They could be set up like those early 2000’s lams teams he could be the bucs Faulk to the magic mans Warner

It might be a tough sell if they want to get much in return...from what I read, Bell can't negotiate an extension with a team until after he signs with them.

What / who do you give up?
Imagine the Steelers want more than just draft picks.

I don't see how we could afford him. We'd probably have to trade Mike Evans to balance out the cap.

^^^This. We can't afford him. Quite certain we'd be over the cap as soon as the trade was done.

Imagine that. Ha!
But have to think if traded, Steelers would send to the NFC.

Could the Pack afford him? They could use Bell to take some heat of Rodgers.

Not without letting go of some of their big contracts. Plus they just made Rodgers the highest paid player ever. It's a very short list of teams that could currently afford his demands.

The Bills are going to have 90 million in cap available next year without releasing any of their current contracts. They could afford him but not sure if either Bell or the BIlls would consider it, since it's going to be a bit before they are going to be competitive again.

Shady has as much baggage or more than Bell while being an objectively weaker player. If the Steelers were willing to take on Shady's drama, the Bills would have to throw in a lot with him. Otherwise I like this. The Bills need something to take heat off of Allen. Bell could be the answer, even if they have to outright cut Shady to make room.

How would we even afford him? We'd have to get rid of a couple good players(and we probably wouldn't be paying Winston)

That said...omg, could you imagine our offense

On 2nd thought maybe they want to trade him here Tuesday morning so they guarantee they don't see him again until 2022 at the earliest(Unless it's in the Superbowl)

I'd be very excited to see what Bell could do with the like 9 carries a game Peyton Barber is getting.

Great player but not worth the cost in salary or whatever assets the trade would require. Hard pass.

Brate, 1st and 5th for bell.. provided the bucs get a handshake deal on a long term bell deal after he is traded. Brate counts for enough room to make the deal work and still gives the bucs some space to work with

Bell absolutely wants to test his value on the free market. It's already been discussed he will not agree to a deal until FA of next year. I can't see the Steelers getting any better than a 3rd for him and I don't think he reports anywhere until week 11. Plus we would have to lose some big contracts just to fit the tag under the cap.

Is it worth a potential 6 game rental to give up the type of player we'd have to cut?

I think Bell is due for disappointment. I agree with his case in principle, they are using the Franchise tag on him to keep him from ever getting that big fat long term deal, I have to doubt it was ever intended for that. However, he's essntially quit on his team that was considered a contender. His teammates are turning on him, he's spending his time at the beach and when he does hit FA next year, he will be that much closer to 30 and the anticipated decline. He'll never get back the money he would have made on the Franchise Tag year and know he will have even more perceived baggage in addition to the missed time from injury and suspension.

How would it be a 6 game rental this is only week 3 at worst maybe a 11 week rental. Also he wanted a long term deal with Pittsburgh but wanted more gauranteed money then pit would give him. He can’t sign a long term deal with them now that the season has started but he can with a new team he is traded to. Plus if there’s a will there’s a way, if the rams can figure out how to have all their big players under contract the bucs can figure out a way too. I say do it dom
